Unable to kick scammers off their page, the Columbia Gorge Humane Society — which relies on donations and fundraisers promoted through Facebook — is unsure how it will feed the 55 dogs and cats in its care.

It’s with a heavy heart that we share Deborah Wood passed away earlier this week. Debbie was the manager of Washington County Animal Services and the Bonnie Hays Animal Shelter from December 2008 until her retirement in 2017.

Debbie leaves a lasting legacy as an author, newspaper columnist, animal advocate, dog trainer and even a Jeopardy contestant! She was deeply involved in animal welfare and dog training, and was very proud of her work in those areas. Debbie was even a founding member of the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (ASAP), which is a coalition of local animal organizations dedicated to making the Portland metro region a safer place for pets.

We are grateful for all Debbie did to positively impact the lives of both the people and pets of Washington County.

The second surprise to start my day:
I had to drive to Marin to pick up some copies of my new book for the San Diego seminar this weekend and learned that Barking Up the Right Tree 'sold out' before it was even released and so, they had to do a second printing. Whoooopeeeee!
