As of last week, the Oregon Heath Authority has expanded its cyanobacteria advisory to much of the Willamette River. You can find a current advisory listing and maps at ’s website — but always err on the side of caution if you see signs of harmful algae in natural water sources, and have your pets seen immediately if you notice symptoms of toxic algae ingestion after swimming.

To have placed between two very large and well-established emergency vets, in only our third year practicing, is a dream come true. Since opening in November, 2022, we have strived to provide excellent and compassionate patient care – and we won’t lie – it feels great to have our team’s dedication recognized by the Portland community.

Thank you for all those who voted or shared, and for our clients and community for the ongoing support. We love this community.

Now that’s what we call a hair(tie)ball. Lots of guesses in our Stories comment box for headphones/wired ear buds, shoelaces, worms, and even rocks or nails. It turns out Benny had ingested multiple hair ties, which were tangled in his stomach. The most common signs of ingesting a foreign object like this may be vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy and/or hiding.

If you know or suspect your pet has ingested a foreign object, it’s always best to bring them in for treatment as soon as possible. The earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome.

The exact cause of polyps like this, which are benign masses that don’t typically spread to other tissues, is unknown. They can cause difficulty breathing, stertor (a snoring sound), sneezing and other symptoms. While recurrence may occur, the prognosis for most cats is good following surgical removal. 🚨**The following slides contain graphic images**🚨
