This lady reached out to me in an attempt to sell me a group of growouts. I passed because 6 of the 8 looked like cockerels to me. She swore there was no way to tell the s*x but it wasn't worth a 7 hour drive and a gamble for me that I would get a mix.
She sold 4 of the cockerels, raised the price, messaged me and then got pi**ed when I passed again.
Don't be this ridiculous.
*yes she is a new breeder who bought into 2 nice lines and is trying to make a name for herself. Mission accomplished.

I just witnessed a total bashing of a silkie breeder because of lack of education. One educated commentor stepped up and supplied some actual education for everyone and I'm going to share it here.
We have delt with this before and we take it very seriously. Unfortunately there is just no way to totally eliminate it and keep it from ever coming back. Even a complete cull can't eliminate it.

For an FYI: it’s estimated by the department of Agriculture that up to 98 percent of all flocks in the country are infected with some form of MG. There are 40 different strains of it (if I remember correctly from my state training). It can travel and be transmitted up to 5 miles away from the originating source. Which is why the department of agriculture doesn’t require testing for it. It’s assumed everyone has it. You might think you don’t because no symptoms are present but chances are your flock does carry at least one strain. This is the fun part and why you do bio security measures for all new birds/chicks. It is what it is sadly. This post is not defending the seller. Not one bit. Disclosure should be made of known problems. I just want to make the point that almost all flocks carry some form of MG. Look it up. Even the hatcheries have it.

I'm considering running test batches in the new incubators because we just can't eat all these eggs.
If anyone would like to pre purchase a batch let me know.
This is how it works. You purchase a batch of 22 eggs, we label the incubator with your name and whatever hatches is all yours.
These eggs could be from our "show" pen, our BBS pen, or the paint pen. If we don't have enough silkie eggs to fill an incubator we will add in guinea, brahma or bantam cochin eggs to fill it up.
In my opinion this is better than those raffles because you are definitely going to get something for your money.
We have 3 incubators available @ $150 each. We will set when paid and full.
