➡️🏥MOOSHOO SURGERY UPDATE:

Mooshoo's left mandible was loosening up and came out today. It was barely hanging on. All she had to do press a little in one area came all way out. Gum tissue underneath healed around it and his body said we don't need the jaw bone anymore. It looked really really good underneath there. Not a whole lot is going to change. That has not been functional for a while. In the last week or so it started to degrade. It has not affected his eating. Whole side came out with his teeth with still some in the back in a little piece still attached. It broke off right where it's attached to gum tissue way in the back where a small little part is still attached but the whole straight part is gone. This is what Dr. Smitley was trying to prevent. She was worried that was going to happen. The bone died away too much. This may make him feel better considering it healed so well underneath and around it. She has seen it before where the jaw bone came out like this and the bearded dragon died but the tissue was not healed like this so he is doing much better than that one at this time. Pandora died when a section came out like this last year. Continue meds as they have been. Right lower jaw is the same as before and cleaned up decently. Left upper started to form tartar but could be from the lower jaw the way that was happening but she got a fair amount off. Right upper is fine. He now has no teeth on the left lower. Tissues look really healthy and healing so he is old and with his mouth issue there is the possibility he could be dying so we will focus on keeping him as comfortable as long as possible, so he may not be on a decline right now because he is healing.

He is waking up nicely and I can come get him in a little while.

Oscar left in the early hours on Monday, January 25, 2021 after a battle with an aggressive stomach cancer. He was blind all his life. He was a rescue I had for 3 years. He is dearly missed.💗
He was around 6 years old.
Here he is with his tank mate Alex. She helped guide him around the tank and bring him comfort.
