"Together forever" - Eiko and Bella - Best friends forever. 🫶 ❤️🤞
Eiko was our last adored "family dog" that we got in 2001, and was part of our family for the next 11yrs. Eiko was from the same top "Sieger" German Shepherd bloodline that our first male stud "Kanto" was from. The term "Sieger" means "Champion" in German and refers to a dog that has achieved the highest level of qualification in the sport of Schutzhund or won a Sieger show. Eiko was just 5yo when my Dad got Bella (Yorkshire Terrier) for me in December of 2006. In July of 2006 I lost my boyfriend, Junior High School "sweetheart" in a tragically fatal motorcycle crash. After many months of watching me suffer in pain, and sadness with my grief accepting that nothing or any amount of love could ever help me, he knew that only one thing could and would, and that one thing, was a dog; a loyal friend to be by my side always, to fill that void, and he was right! Bella remained by my side until her passing in September of 2024. Well, Bella joined our family/household with a "BIG Dog" attitude immediately asserting her position, challenging Eiko our 110llb German Shepherd into any and every battle she could. They were inseparable, the best of friends, and loyal to a fault at times ha! The relationship that forms, the bond that's created between a small and a big dog is truly amazing. I say this because this wasn't the first time I had experienced this. Growing up I had Precious, my first Yorkie that I took home from my Dad's Kennel after someone boarded her and never came back. She was the one Yorkie in a household with 4 fully trained, top-of-the-line German Shepherds (Kanto, Cindy, Kissy, and Cobra) a 130lb Rhodesian Ridgeback (Clyde), and a 90lb Doberman (Bambi) but she was the "BIG Dog" always, just like Bella. Maybe her spirit lived on in Bella! So if you ever wonder if having a big and small dog at the same time will work, it will, and more than you could've ever imagined!
