Some days are about making dogs pretty.... Other days are about giving them relief. ❤️
Today was Ozzy and Sophie's day.
Ozzy spent quite a few hours with me today. He was an absolute sweetheart from start to finish, even through a groom that wasn't easy. We took it slow, worked at a pace comfortable for him.
When his family brought him in, they knew something wasn't right and trusted me to help. Under all that fluffy hair was a coat that was matted tightly to the skin in spots and ears that desperately needed attention. His ears were packed with hair and debris, and getting them cleaned out was a bit uncomfortable for him—but so necessary.
This wasn't anyone trying to neglect their dog.
His family had been doing exactly what responsible pet owners should do: taking him to someone they believed was providing professional grooming.
So today wasn't about a fancy haircut.
It was about giving Ozzy a fresh, comfortable (re)start.
We clipped away the painful matting, cleaned up those poor ears, and made a plan to see him again in a few weeks. That's where the fun begins—growing back a healthy, beautiful coat that can actually be maintained.
Then there was sweet 15-year-old Sophie. She let me know she was reaching her limit during her bath, so today became a Senior Comfort Groom. At her age, comfort always comes before perfection.
These two reminded me why I love what I do.
A groomer's job isn't just making dogs look cute. It's looking beneath the fluff, checking ears and skin, noticing the little things, and always putting the dog's comfort and well-being first.
I'm so proud of both of these sweet pups today, and I'm excited to watch Ozzy's transformation over the next few appointments. ❤️
