Lower barn makeover!! New roof with skylights that brighten everything. Gutters to come.

Upper barn and indoor arena have new commercial gutters and 4 inch PVC drain pipes, diverting water away from the paddocks and into the forest. It’s taken a long time to get to a point where we could do this, but it’s gonna make such a huge difference in the winter!

Northwind Farm is 15 acre full boarding and training farm located across the street from the Banner Forest Heritage Park in rural Port Orchard! 3 miles off the Southworth/Vashon/Fauntleroy Ferry, 25 minutes down HWY 16 from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Northwind offers full boarding and provides a professional, fun, drama free environment for you and your horse.
Well maintained indoor and outdoor arenas, easy access to trails, land ots of frm greenspace. We offer 12x12 matted stalls with daily turnout or with a fenced run off the stall for 24/7 access.
Recent farm improvements include new commercial grade gutters and downspouts on the main barn and a new roof on the lower barn to help with mud control in the PNW winters!

Owners Nelson Mittuch and Maggie Mittuch have been providing professional services in this location for nearly 25 years!
Our farm community is eclectic and diverse, and wonderfully supportive. We have a experienced barn staff and we offer professional instruction, coaching and training in show jumping, eventing, cross country riding and dressage as well as work in hand and ground manners. An update on the 64th Annual Hunter Trials this weekend:

Well, we didn’t see a government shutdown coming, but we still have a great weekend planned! If base re-opens, Saturday is our annual Hunter Trials, with fun Hunter classes in the ring starting at 9am, followed by thrilling performance classes on the Hunter Trials field starting at 12:30 pm, and an all-day Hunter Pace! Spectators, bring a blanket or chairs to sit and watch the beautiful riders and well-groomed horses compete for awesome prizes while visiting with your friends! Well-behaved dogs are allowed on leashes.

If JBLM is still shut down on Saturday, the morning Horse Show in the ring will be held in the WHC arena, and the Hunter Trials will be held at Starfire Farms (Horseland), so the show WILL be going on! All the same great prizes, great food from the Fox Den, and the Tack and Clothing Sale and Flea Market will be held! The Hunter Pace will be rescheduled to another date, perhaps with our Gymkhana sponsored jointly by WHC and the Woodbrook Hunt Pony Club on Saturday, October 25th, followed by our Halloween Hunt on Sunday, October 26th!

On those chilly but dry days, go out with other NWF Barn folks and enjoy the fall and winter beauty of the Banner Forest, just a hop across the road from the farm!
Engage in fun and challenging lessons, on the flat, show jumping, or galloping solid obstacles more typical to cross country eventing or fox hunting.
We offer a professionally run, organized, friendly boarding opportunity for you and your equine companion.
In addition to professional care for your horse, Nelson Mittuch, primary Trainer, Coach and Instructor, offers excellence in his training and teaching. Nelson’s early career was spent in England and Germany learning and honing his skills under some of the top international Masters of the day. He has continued over the years of his profession to stay enthusiastic and supportive of his students and their goals, no matter what those goals are. His instruction is of the highest caliber. I’m still looking for an additional feeder for our barn staff! Afternoons,
And the job consist of bringing 6 to 10 horses from turnout, feeding hay and feed concentrates in the upper and lower Barns, cleaning/filling water buckets, tidying aisle ways and hay area with a broom or gas blower . We are a well run and happy farm! We have 21-28 horses in any given time so feed shifts are anywhere from 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
