PERSNICKETY PUG to PLAYFUL PUG!

Congratulations to Pug Puppy LACEY and her owners Bob & Jill on finishing a 5 session package with Kris’ Pet Priorities!

LACEY was starting to develop some reactivity and territorial issues making it difficult to have visitors and walk her outside. We taught her COME, CRATE, LEAVE IT and BE NICE (balanced protocol for reactivity). We taught her that her job was to go to the crate when visitors first entered the home and that calming gets her what she wants. LACEY was also showing some separation anxiety/ barrier stress but that seemed to lessen as we helped her develop an affinity for her CRATE and brought her confidence up in a few areas.

On the last session I brought out my 9 month old Blue Heeler puppy ZIA MIA to be a neutral dog for distance BE NICE reactivity training. ZIA did great letting me pass her off to Bob or Jill to handle while I worked with LACEY and each owner separately with LACEY at a distance. LACEY did so well I decided to attempt an introduction to ZIA and it went EXTREMELY WELL!!! ZIA was extra calm for LACEY!!

Both young dogs had a wonderful experience which was beneficial for both of them and especially showed LACEY that strange dogs won’t hurt her and her owners will keep her safe.

See some video footage of LACEY and ZIA meeting in comments!

Great job Jill & Bob 👏👏👏.
Keep up the great work with LACEY!!k

Heck yeah! Frequent fliers on the naughty spectrum. Too bad I don’t have any good K9 cops or even master level seasoned boss dogs to help reign ZIA MIA in! I’ll have to do it all.

But on a good note Zia redeemed herself yesterday working with a reactive client dog, a little pug named LACEY! (Video in comments). I turned ZIA over to a stranger to walk in a leash to be my neutral trigger dog for training. She did great! She wasn’t needy or demand barking missing me. The client had treats that he made ZIA earn and that kept ZIA from barking back at the client dog LACEY! And by the end of the session ZIA became the first dog LACEY had met other than other family dogs!!!! And LACEY was no longer barking at other strange dogs because she had a good experience with ZIA!!! Proud owner moment all around!!!

There is a reason they call Australian Cattle Dogs (ACDs) the “redneck Malinois”! 😂

We love it when they use their super powers for GOOD!! 💜🐾💪

My boys have officially SPOILED Zia Mia! They can’t stand her barking demands and keep giving their toys up to her!!

Visiting dog Olive had to growl at Zia numerous times as Zia stalked her with OCD every time poor Olive went in the crate or grabbed a toy!!

RAin tried to explain to Olive that we just give in to the demanding little DIVA! When that didn’t work Rain came to me to save his barky girlfriend from a well deserved impending butt kicking!!!

Unfortunately Olive was WAY TOO NICE and the butt kicking of the junior miss I was hoping might finally educate ZIA never materialized!!! 🤦‍♀️

How I miss me a good boss dog like Malaki or Boss Bella who would have never tolerated this crap! Now I need to start reigning ZIA in myself.

GIT-R-DONE FAMILY 💪🐾👏

Congratulations to DAKOTA , a 6 month old female Cane Corso puppy, and her family for completing a 5 session Obedience Package with Kris’ Pet Priorities! Her owners Charles & Ruthie have a very busy life with 3 children who play sports, and many pets including dogs ranging from small poodle mix to a Great Dane and cats too! But they were still on top of getting their newest pet addition DAKOTA the time and training she needed to be good around the children, other pets and visitors.

We started DAKOTA with CRATE and teaching her a release cue OKAY to be the end of cued behaviors. Once DAKOTA knew to wait to be released she started maintaining STAY for SITs and DOWNs really nice due to his owners passion for training!

Cane Corso dogs can be territorial so we taught DAKOTA her job was to go to her PLACE, not to decide who comes in the home. She also learned a reliable recall COME and we introduced her and her family to ecollar training using positive reinforcement and DAKOTA did great!

We even had time to teach the family how to deal with the mild resource guarding DAKOTA was starting to display for high value food items and bones. I was quite satisfied the family was safe and DAKOTA’s guarding was being well managed and desensitized to not be any problem for their children, visitors, and other pets.

I love when a family loves their pets so much and puts the work in to enjoy the results! This family is now reaping the results of their hard work! They have a great dog in DAKOTA , who will be a blessing to this family for many years to come! No one will be messing with this brood with this well adjusted and trained girl on watchdog patrol!

Not pictured: Dad -Charles who was out getting it done too. Only session he had to miss due to work. Great job Charles and Ruthie!!! Very impressive team!!! Keep up the great work with your whole pack!!

ONE & DONE…for now!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Service Dog Team - K9 LILO and her handler Dora on passing their AKC Canine Citizen Test on their first try tonight at the Mt. Nittany Dog Training Club event At Boalsburg Military Museum!

LILO is just a 1 year old Golden Retriever who struggles occasionally with balancing social life with work! We had her neutral to people passing by when in her vest and “working “, but occasionally the puppy in her was still wanting to play with other dogs when “on the clock”! ⏰. As we thought, that was the hardest station for LILO, but she PASSED!!!

LILO can also do special trained behaviors that assist her handler with her medical needs such as retrieving items like medication, opening handicap doors, indicating when her handler needs to sit down, and LILO also puts her paws 🐾 on her handlers chest in a static position for compression and comfort when her handler is in pain.

Like all working dogs SD K9 LILO and her handler Dora will keep training and improving!

But TODAY we celebrate 🎉🥳👏🍾 a year of hard work with a well deserved CGC ribbon which elevates Service Dog In Training LILO (SDIT) to SERVICE DOG K9 LILO (SD) !!!

Hat tip to LILO’s breeder Lois Fogle in Blair County for a great female Golden Retriever that has shown herself to be social, environmentally neutral, as well as intelligent and trainable to do service work.

Im SO PROUD of both of you!!!!!
Keep on TRAINING !!!
😊👏😊👏😊👏

ZIA MIA is 8 months old now and officially part of the KPP STAFF! Ill have to add her to the website!

She is learning how to meet other dogs, and getting better daily at LOAD UP, respecting car thresholds and waiting for her release to come out, and coming when called under all types of distractions.

She now likes to go in the car and is excited when I get her harness out to go on an adventure! She just got her first 2 Hound Freedom Harness and she is learning to walk nice on a leash. She has become an absolute socialite with both people and dogs!

I recently got a picture of her parents STORM (mother) and RIVER (father). Thats why I named her after the radiant sun ☀️! Who do you think she takes after most?
