Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark We are a private, managed-admission animal shelter serving the tri-state area for over 50 years & are funded by donations & municipal contracts.

At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark, we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This passion is the Mission of our service and the legacy that was left to us by our founder Robert Kleinstuber. Robert began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff. His hard work paved the way for the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark. This sp

irit is what drives us each day to do the best we can for the good of all animals. We currently contract with 10 local municipalities as their Animal Control sheltering services. Our coverage handles a good portion of western Orange County and a couple of towns in Sullivan County. Persons finding stray animals should contact their town or city animal control officer. We focus on serving the needs of animals that are right here within our community and sometimes assist with non-local pets when we can. We work with pet owners who must surrender their pets; those needing assistance should contact the shelter to schedule a time when we can best accommodate your pet.

Diego came to us through Animal Control, and unfortunately, no one ever came forward to claim him. We believe he is approximately 3–5 years old.
This handsome boy absolutely LOVES to play fetch with tennis balls! He walks well on a leash and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a fun and playful dog.Diego must be the only dog in the home.We would also prefer a home without small children,as fast movements can make Diego very nervous. Diego is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his core vaccinates.

Cherry is approximately 2 years old and is a sweet Yorkie mix looking for her forever home.
She is a great walker on a leash and enjoys exploring her surroundings. Cherry is interested in other animals, so a meet and greet with any resident pets will be required. Cherry is a little shy at first and would do best in a home without small children where she can take her time getting comfortable.
Cherry is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and will be microchipped at the time of adoption.
