So many of you have reached out asking if Dr. Brian Rose has retired. We are happy to tell you that he has NOT, but after many years of working most of the week and from morning to evening, he has reduced his hours. This gives him the chance to enjoy more quality time with his family.
Dr. Brian will be seeing appointments twice a week, and doing surgery all day on Tuesdays.
Of course this means there will be a wait time to get appointments with him, so plan ahead if you can.
Because of this transition, we will be temporarily closed on Saturdays. As stated, this won’t always be the case.
We still have the talented Dr. JJ Sagl and Dr. Jen Krawchuk seeing appointments.
We are also adding a brand new doctor to the rotation, and that announcement is coming soon!

Today our hospital bid farewell to the princess of the office, our beautiful blonde, Peach.
At 18 years old, she far outlived our expectations when we adopted her as the hospital cat a little over 2 years ago.
Peach was truly a demanding diva, the typical example of the toughest traits in a cat.
She required a new variety of food every couple of months, smacked any cat she could get her paws on, was absolutely AWFUL for restraint and went to the bathroom wherever she saw fit.
And yet, she was ours and we accepted all of who she was.

Since coming to live at the hospital she formed a special, unbreakable bond with Eden. There has never been a day in the last 2 years that Eden hasn’t said “Peaches!”

It was Eden who watched her favorite things about Peach slowly fade away as her age progressed. It was Eden who knew that her cat wouldn’t want to continue to decline, she was much too proud for that.
Our hospital will certainly feel different, but I know Eden will feel this void the most.
We were so honored to be her family for her most golden of years.
Rest in paradise, Princess Peach 🩷 we will always remember you 🩷

Happy Women’s History Month!

It’s no secret that the women who work in our practice out number the men 9-5, so here are some interesting facts about women in veterinary medicine!
Dr. Elinor McGrath was the first woman to practice veterinary medicine for a sustained period of time, after graduating with her degree in 1910, a decade before women were granted the right to vote! She went on the practice for 37 years.

Dr. Jane Hinton is one of two of the first African American women to gain a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1949. (The other being Dr. Alfreda Johnson Webb, also in 1949).
Dr. Jane Hinton was a pioneer in the study of bacterial antibiotic resistance, and went on to practice in Massachusetts as a small animal veterinarian.

And of course, our very own Dr. Jen Krawchuk! In addition to working here every Tuesday, she runs her own acupuncture and laser therapy practice. We appreciate the knowledge she brings to Jefferson Animal Hospital every week!
