💩🚫 DOG P**P IS NOT FERTILIZER!
Think dog p**p is helping your grass grow? Think again! 😬
It might look like fertilizer, but dog p**p is not good for your lawn or garden.
🐕 Dogs are meat-eaters. Because of their protein-based diet, dog waste contains high levels of nitrogen and different nutrients/ pathogens than plant-based manure. (Cow p**p, for example)
🦠 It can carry harmful bacteria & parasites. Dog waste may contain organisms like E. coli, Salmonella, and parasite eggs that can survive in soil.
🌱 Grass and plants can’t use it safely. Unlike properly composted plant material or certain animal manures, dog p**p isn't treated to destroy those pathogens. Nutrients can also be released in an unhealthy way and potentially contribute to water pollution.
💧 Rain spreads the problem. When rain washes dog waste into storm drains, lakes, and streams, those bacteria and excess nutrients can travel with it.
So while it may look like fertilizer… your lawn isn't asking for a dog-p**p buffet. 😂
