Today is International Friendship Day 💕

FRIENDSHIP IS…

Knowing that someone will be there when you lose,
when you fall,
when you snort ugly tears.

Friendship is knowing they will ask you twice,
‘how are you, really?’
And they will not accept your answer of fine,
when you are anything but.

Friendship is showing up for the worst of times,
as well as the best,
and knowing which one is the most important.

Friendship is building another’s self-esteem,
realising the gift they have given you by allowing you to do so,
and never using that gift for anything but good.

Friendship is every colour of the rainbow and all the hues in between.
The good, the bad, the ugly, the glorious, the beloved and the brilliant.

Friendship is hanging on when that person is cocooned,
waiting for them to re-emerge,
ready to accept their changes,
knowing they are still the same, to you.

Friendship is a gift, a blessing, a joy.

Be the friend you seek to have.
And be that friend to yourself too.

Love all my peeps.
To many more adventures together.

Friendship is the type of love that chooses you.

It is a love that chooses you
when there is nothing to make it stay.

A love that says
"I have seen you at your lowest,
I have seen you at your highest
and I will persevere.
Not because I feel obligated to or because we signed a contract
but simply because you are you. Because you matter to me."

Friendship is the kind of love that doesn't need a lot of grand gestures
but it's the kind that chooses to make small gestures that mean a lot.

It drives out of its way to drop off treats at your door when you're not feeling well.
It sends surprise notes in the mail to say "I'm thinking of you."
It sends messages without needing a reply when you're going through a tough time. Because it knows that you might not have the energy to respond.
But it wants you to know that it's here.

Yes, friendship is the kind of love that chooses to exist.

The kind of love that chooses you for no other reason than the fact that
you are you.

And that's why
it is so incredibly special.

July 30th is International Day of Friendship. We are using today’s International day to encourage forging friendships near and far. Let’s develop strong friendships worldwide in hopes of a growing spirit of human solidarity. The day encourages making friends and building relationships with people outside of your own culture, country, or background. Through these relationships, a culture of peaceful and mutual understanding develops.
