We wanted to take a moment to give a special shout-out to a donor, Gail E., for her generous donation of over $130 worth of kitten formula! Thank you so much Gail, this donation was absolutely above and beyond the call of duty. Our bottle feeders will have full bellies for some time now!

It means the world when people think of the kitties and put this kind of generosity into us. As a non profit organization, we run entirely on donations and grants.

To donate, you can bring physical items to Best Friends and Dr Pat's Pet Care or have them shipped directly to Pawsitive Animal Impact Rescue - PAIR at the same address in Port Angeles.

We are still seeking donations of wet and dry kitten food, kitten litter pans (low rise and corner pans work well), litter scoops, kitty litter of all varieties (unscented for kittens), and other kitten supplies like beds, toys, blankets, etc.

We're doing Half Priced Neuters!

Sunday (Father's Day) 6/15/2025 Mount Pleasant Grange Port Angeles

It's that time again, folks! We have a public neuter clinic coming up this coming Sunday. We will only be performing neuters at this clinic but they will be half priced! Cat Neuters will be $30 and dog neuters will range between $100-180 depending on weight.

Does your puppy need its first shots and you're having a hard time getting them into the vet?

We have already seen two cases of Parvo so far this year! Please take advantage of our low cost vaccines!

We have Distemper Parvo Lepto vaccines for dogs over the age of 12 weeks and Distemper Pavo vaccines for dogs under 12 weeks of age.

In honor of the puppies who have lost their lives we will be offering low cost distemper parvo and distemper parvo lepto vaccines in order to protect the puppies in our community.

This is the reality of rescue work. We've received $70 in donations this month, while we spend anywhere from $100-800/month on supplies alone. Fosters are cutting into their own budgets to feed. We adopt out at a loss. While we are aware of the challenges of the early years building a non profit, that doesn't slow us down or stop us from leaping in to save whoever we can.

If you're able to donate, consider PAIR. We need food, litter, low rise litter pans, beds, old blankets, and cleaning supplies. We also spend money on vet care, medications, and the like daily for some of the kitties we care for. The need never ends, but we'll never stop.

This is the reality of rescue work. We are drowning in kittens. We have requests to pickup surrendered kittens or found kitties daily. Our rescue teams are exhausted but we'll never stop. The animals in our care deserve whatever we can muster to offer them, and so does our community. That's why we work so hard saving these animals, because it's the right thing to do and they deserve it. We aren't paid big dollars. We work endless hours. We're tired, just like everyone else out here trying to stop the vicious stray cycle.

Do your part and alter your pets please.

The Emotional Impact of Rescue – What People Don’t Always See

Rescue work is often portrayed as inspiring—and it is. But behind every rescue is a weight that’s rarely spoken about.

Rescuers and carers often suffer quietly:

Compassion fatigue – constant exposure to suffering wears you down.

Burnout – the emotional cost of always being needed, of never being able to do enough.

Witnessing trauma – seeing neglect, cruelty, abandonment.

Making impossible decisions – when you can’t save them all.

No support system – many carers work alone, with no therapy, no backup, no rest.

And still—they show up. Every. Single. Day.

Some rescuers carry multiple responsibilities and that in itself is taxing.

A full-time job, household responsibilities, family obligations, owned pets - not including fosters. Rescue comes with many hats and there are many that don't just juggle one role.

We need to talk about the emotional toll of caring.
Because the truth is: saving animals often breaks the people doing the saving.

If you know someone doing rescue work—check on them. Help them. Listen.

They carry more than you realize.

In honor of National Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week and to all of the individuals involved in Animal Welfare, doing far more than anyone truly understands.

READY FOR ADOPTION NOW:

Sophie is a two year old all black kitty in urgent need of foster or preferably, adoption! She comes spayed, up to date on vaccines, and in great health. She also comes with her collection of goodies such as food, bowls, litter, litter box, toys, bed, and her tracking collar!

Sophie's parents are moving sooner than anticipated and cannot take her to live in a motel room until they establish permanent housing out of state. They leave in two weeks. Sophie is described as a smaller short haired kitty who is sweet and affectionate. She reminds me of my sweetest babygirl Kiki.

With Black cats we must deploy extra safety measures simply because they carry a stigma that makes them:

1. The least likely to get adopted (there are twice as many black cats on Petfinder within a 50 mile radius than any other color) and,

2. The most likely to experience animal abuse alongside pitbulls (people see them as superstitious/evil and harm them)

We are taking extra care to vet Sophie's potential adopters. If you have room in your heart for a single black kitty, please consider meeting Sophie. If you know a guy send him our way.

Sophie is living with her parents for the next two weeks before we transfer her to PetSense in Port Angeles for adoption display. Preferably we'll find her a spot before her people leave.

Hey everyone, foster parent/media outreach coordinator Juniper here 😊

We are in URGENT NEED of foster homes in and around Port Angeles. These gorgeous single adults are ready for adoption but need out of the clinic environment ASAP. If you're not sure about adopting, we have a foster-to-adopt program program as well as strictly temporary foster system. If you have room in your home for one of these fabulous felines, please email us at [email protected] !

Alternatively we have SEVERAL mom kitties with very fresh litters that need to be fostered until they are old/big enough for spay/neuter and adoption. I personally took in a pregnant queen a little over a month ago who birthed a litter of 7 kittens. 3 weeks later, we introduced her to an orphaned litter of 5 and she immediately accepted them into her brood. I'm supplementing the smallest kitten with formula but otherwise Mama Kitty does the hard stuff. Having Sweetie and these babies has been an immensely rewarding experience!
