This is Zeus. His owner is going to a nursing facility, and cannot take him with her. He is a registered service dog, trained for epilepsy. Oh Walter! We always knew how special you truly are!

Sometimes the best dogs are the ones people keep scrolling past, but we just keep hoping and praying someone out there someday is gonna look at them and know, “That is my dog!”

If you follow us, then you know Walter. Walter has been with us for years! Walter has a few quirks, but Walter has consistently been a volunteer / staff favorite. Why? Because Walter REALLY is a wonderful lovable amazing dog.

Finally, Walter’s someone stopped scrolling. She kept coming back to his sweet face and had to meet him. The rest is pure kismet!! Walter was recently adopted by a wonderful family.

So this is a HUGE shoutout to the folks out there who take a chance on the dogs who keep getting overlooked. The dogs who may need a little more grace and who simply need a person willing to love the dog in front of them, in spite of perceived flaws and imperfections.

So happy for your next chapter sweet boy.

This little fella is Barkley. What else can we say other than Barkley checks all the boxes! Barkley is a perfect combination of smarts sweetness and shenanigans.

This German Shepard Mix (newly found name)is Lady. She followed a group of friends on a kayaking trip, and they couldn’t leave her behind. She is not chipped, and has no response to the lost posts, etc. She is believed to be abandoned/dumped.

The people that lady found are unable to keep her, due to already having animals. They are willing to assist in finding her her own forever home.

She is great with children’s and other dogs. Lady enjoys car rides, and running and sniffing around the yard. She is estimated to be about 6.5 years old. Since found Lady has been treated for fleas and ticks, put on Nexguard, bathed and has gotten her shots.. Rabies Pending. Lady prefers soft food, but will still eat kibble. She also enjoys having other friendly dogs around. Lady would make a great companion for any family. The fosters agree to still pay for Rabies moving forward, and assist with spaying if it’s not already done.. (still to be determined)

Developing partnerships with rescues helps our organization to save more animals. When our adoptions slow, we need rescue partners to help us transfer animals out of our shelter and into loving foster homes where adoptable dogs can receive the individualized attention they need. As a no-kill shelter, some of our dogs have been with us much longer than we hoped!! We do our very best for them, but we want to take a moment to give HUGE shoutout to K9s4U Dog Rescue Inc. They are a wonderful foster based rescue. To date, this amazing rescue has taken in over a dozen of our dogs who have all been adopted with them. Dogs like Blaze and Sparky who needed a little help finding their way to the next chapter.

Thank you K9s4U Dog Rescue Inc!! Our dogs and the humans who care for them are forever grateful for the fosters who make up K9s4U and who keep saying yes.
