Hey all. Wild Acres Farm has officially sold the last of our farm stock and we do not currently have any plans on obtaining anymore animals in the near future (with the exception of hens). I want to personally thank everyone who has been apart of WAF over the past 16 years! I grew-up with my 4-H and horse show families and learned so much from the animals and the people. I have never met nicer people in my life than I did through raising animals. The small farm world is a community like no other - from the fair, to horse show circuits all over the east coast, to MareStare, answering our endless questions at all hours of the night, assisting with births (and even saving one of my mares thanks to a telephone call in the middle of the night from Europe!), I truly cannot express enough how grateful I am to have grown up on a farm. I will always cherish the time spent with my mom over 8+ hour drives hauling horses, longhorns, and goats, 3am births, all nighters trying to save various babies, and of course the best week of the year for a 4-Her - fair! She showed horses and lambs along side me in the ring and always worked her magic behind the scenes handling paperwork and keeping track of which pig was next to the wash racks, and always made sure she was ringside when it was my turn to show. My dad built paddocks, even when my bull, Bodacious, was so determined to destroy every pen (and some shelters) we had, he set up extensive cameras throughout the farm so we could watch births not just from the house, but from anywhere in the world (I watched one of our mares deliver all the way from the Galapagos!), he drove the RV all over the east coast so we could have a "home" during shows, and he fed the animals every day when I left everyone for college and adult life - even though he would leave notes such as "Damnit, Jim, I am a computer nerd, not a farmer" on our white boards in the barn. I am truly blessed to have grown up at Wild Acres Farm and to have such incredibly supportive parents. I just wanted to send out a huge 'Thank you!' to every single one of you that has been apart of our farm family. I would not trade a single moment of the blood, sweat, tears, and so much joy that went into WAF. Thank you all!
xoxo,
Jo
