Introducing Toby. 4 years old, found as a stray in Pontiac. Be warned there are some not so pretty pictures of Toby in this post. Sadly, this is nothing new to us and it continues to boggle our minds that people can treat an animal like this. But.....Toby is looking darn good now and is in a foster home. The following is what Toby's foster mom has to say about him:
"Toby has had a rough start to life. He came into the shelter extremely dirty and emaciated and had some wounds on his legs. Despite his painful beginnings, he is a very sweet boy and is deserving of a loving forever family. He’s now a very handsome guy with a healthy coat.
Toby is not shy and was very friendly meeting our grandkids as well as our neighbors, even at our fence line which makes many other dogs apprehensive. Everyone really liked him!
When meeting our other two dogs, there was no growling or barking whatsoever, but we chose to take a slow introduction approach, and he fit in quickly. Initially, Toby had a bit of “mouthiness” and was high energy, but he has already calmed down in just 3 days. When Toby is playing with my other dog, he gets a bit “excited” while playing, but he listens well and will settle down.
He knows how to sit and loves to cuddle on the couch. Our daily routine was immediately accepted, and he sleeps through the night without a peep, on a dog bed in our bedroom.
Toby is an absolute dream on a leash, even waiting for me on steps and not pulling.
He’s only been interested in chewing and playing with dog bones and toys. Being he may never have had dog toys in his life, he does like to steal them from my other dogs. They are very chill and fine with it and I’m thinking after some time, Toby will share more. He lets us take toys out of his mouth easily without having to pull, so he’s not overly possessive.
Toby loves to roll on his back in the grass and do his zoomies, so a fenced yard would be great for him. We laugh when he “pounces” on toys that are thrown for him to fetch. He’s not happy being caged, so he would probably do better with owners who are not gone long hours everyday.
Overall, Toby is a great dog and deserves his loving forever home! "
