Agritek Urban Aquaponics Farming The purpose of this urban farming initiative is to develop aquaculture-based farms in Pontiac, Michigan and grow a variety of produce and commercial flowers.

Through this grassroots effort, we aim to transform the health and economic viability our city!

Aquaponics hydroponics supplies left over from a previous project.

I’ll offer one of these items to each person who posts a picture or video of their own food-focused aquaponics/hydroponics project with short description.

1 - 11lb pack of Cocotek growing media
1 - 4’ growing tray with drains installed
1 - pack of BioStrate 10x20” growing media
1- 50L bag of Hydroton growing media (3 bags available)

Fine print:
Posts must be of a food-based hydroponics or aquaponics system that was purchased or built by the person making the post.🙂

Items are available for pickup in the Oakland County area of SE Michigan and will not be shipped.

No substitutions.

Selling my garage Aquaponics system for $350. If you’d like to jumpstart your home, school or community Aquaponics project this would be a good way to do it.

8’ x 4’ floating raft grow bed with light canopy
250 gallon Rubbermaid fish tank
Sediment filter
Bio filter with media
Two pumps
Mineralization tank
Floating raft with pre-drilled holes
Net pots

Basil is a popular Aquaponics crop. I’m trying the purple variety. Do you have suggestions for exotic varieties that normally aren’t seen in grocery stores?

Week 6 update part 1—poor lighting caused long thin stalks in many of the plants. Some are recovering. The compact fluorescent lights were too far above the floating rafts initially. Most of the bulbs were near the end of their time and I didn’t realize it.
