Frontal conditions with a 30 degree temperature drop and big winds all day had the birds buried up in the thick stuff and sitting pretty tight! Great dog work and awesome shooting from all involved. Got a few firsts and several new personal best, oldest boys first rooster limit, middle boys most Bob's in a day, a guy's first rooster, another young man's first bird with his Christmas gift shotgun and the two Hondo/Remi pups first wild birds!! Thank God for wild birds and wild places.....

Long, hot day in the field today. Dogs and hunters earned every one of these birds.... Thank God for wild birds in wild places.

Unusually warm this morning but we stayed after them and managed a few birds. Great dog work on the birds we did bag.

PS Caden Levings shot at my second bird at the same time I did so I let him carry it around the rest of the day. If you see my special little buddy please congratulate him on his half a bird. 😉

Watching all the puppies head out on their first pheasant hunts this week with their new families just about did me in 🧡🐾

Seeing those little pups charge into the field — tails high, hearts big, doing exactly what they were born to do just like their parents— it hits different.
And seeing their new owners beaming with pride… that’s the part that gets me.

These families aren’t just taking home dogs.
They’re making hunting partners.
They’re building memories.
They’re starting stories that’ll be told for years.

I’m proud of every one of these pups and even prouder of the people giving them a life full of adventure, love, and wide-open fields.
Here’s to many more firsts — and to the bond only a bird dog and their human can understand. 🤍

Black puppies are almost 10 months and Yellow puppies are 4.5 months.

Beautiful opening day of pheasant season! Great dog work, safe gun handling and an absolute pile of fun with friends and family!! Thank you Lord for wild birds and wild places to chase them!!

The boys and I made time for a little hunting on a western road trip. Goal was to work the Setter pup on prairie birds and cross Huns off the boys lists. We accomplished one of those things!! 😁
