Yard Farm's goals and values are R.E.A.L:
RESEARCH: Our main priority for our next several growing seasons is research and development of an open source, scalable Suburban Micro Farm guide and farm plan. We're bringing things down to a micro scale, developing systems for each value-added product based on 8x8ft squares (1/32 of 1000sqft) Our goal is to not only make the in
formation more digestible, but also to help illustrate how easily a homeowner or renter can do this in their own back, side, or front yard-- with very little space! EDUCATE: Teach other local farmers about value-added products at a micro scale. Teach community members the benefit of home gardens and how they help sustain and support local ecosystems. Educate kids and adults alike on the benefits of fresh, locally grown and sustainable food and plants. ADVOCATE: Bring back the Victory Gardens! Turn hobbyists into micro farmers, helping local food community supply chains and bringing much needed additional income to households. Farmers can also partner with non-active households to utilize their viable land. With some luck, we will also turn some non-growers into hobbyists. We work towards a future with a farm in every yard! LOCAL: Buy local! Support Local! Products can travel a long way to get to our tables. Both quality and nutrition suffer. We want to change that. We're developing strong community support systems with like minded businesses and individuals. We need your help!
