This is Pepe, he’s in need of a
new family! His owner loved him so much,but had to surrender him due to going into hospice. Pepe is a very sweet 12 year old neutered male, he’s the perfect lap cat. Miss Shenna came to us with hopes of another opinion to save her life. She was diagnosed with a splenic tumor and had minimal hopes of survival. Dr Murray was able to stabilize her (and Sheena’s parents) and got her into surgery to remove the spleen. Using our state-of-the-art vessel sealer allowing Dr Murray to act swiftly with minimal bleeding, Shenna went home without missing a beat. Shenna’s pathology report came back as a BENIGN Mass!! On our final day of Dental Month, we had Teddy! Teddy started eating a little less for a few days and was brought in for an exam. He had foul odor coming from his mouth and some redness around his pre-molar, and came in for emergency dental the same day. Teddy ended up having two rotten / abscessed teeth as shown on x-ray (where the cursor is pointing). Teddy was given a long acting antibiotic injection, anti-inflammatories, and sent home with pain medication and a soft food diet for 10 days. Teddy went home and scarfed down his dinner that night! ❤️🐾 #teddy #dentalmonth #summersanimslhospital #abcessedtooth #allbetter #scheduleyourdentalvisit

Dentals, Dentals, Dentals! This poor girl had two upper molars that have fractures and a large pocket that was found when we probed the tooth. These are OFTEN seen when pets are given hard chews like compressed cheese chews, antlers, hooves, and bone-like chews. They will keep trying to break the chew until they break thier teeth! 🤕 Yikes! Please consult our veterinarians before purchasing these “fun dog chews” for your pets. Meet Miss Willow! A beautiful patient of ours that is being treated for gastrointestinal pythiosis. Pythium is a primarily water-dwelling, fungi-like organism (found in wet soil) that affects dogs (can infect horses and humans). Pythiosis is a severe and often fatal disease in dogs that traditionally has been poorly responsive to medication and usually requires surgery, if surgery is an option. These masses can be found on the skin or in the intestinal tract.

We were able to act quickly with diagnostics- Ultrasound and CT scan- then Willow had a surgery to resect part of her bowel. She had a rough few weeks after surgery and was in and out of the hospital multiple times. With our teams' efforts and Willow's resiliency, she is now home with her family and housemates! She is up 6 pounds and even playing in the backyard with her toys. Even though this disease has a survival rate of less than 20%, we are hopeful Willow will pull through! Pan American Labs, based in Texas, have recently formulated a vaccine for Pythium. We are using that as part of our treatment protocol, along with 4 oral medications. She still has many months of treatment ahead but we are keeping our fingers crossed for her! #willow #happysaturday #vetmedicine #pytheosis

Peach 🍑 was rescued off the streets by a wonderful young man last month. She had such a bad eye infection because of entropion (where the eyelids roll in) She could barely see, and it caused permanent scars on her cornea. We spayed her and did bilateral corrections of her entropion so she could keep her vision and cause her less pain! Here she is, two weeks later for her suture removal visit ☺️- Pain free and no more infection! Meet Bandit! He is a two time offender for swallowing socks. 🧦 This time Bandit swallowed three socks! They were all successfully removed and is at home doing well!
