Did you know? Horses' tongues can be between 11-16 inches long, but most horses can only stick out their tongue 5-6 inches past their lips! The tongue includes over a dozen muscles. Some of these muscles are attached to the hyoid bones at the back of the jawbones, which then continue towards the shoulders and sternum, creating a connection between the tongue, sternum, and shoulder.
