“Barn Owl Mike” 8 years young and still can put on a show even for his kids. I also hunted 3 of his offspring today. Jasper of course was the bird finding freak as always but his youngest daughters of just 7 1/2 months also dang sure pointed a covey of quail and stood for me to flush and shoot. My goal has always been for 1st year pups to point and stand a covey for me once in the season and so confidently both Stormy and Jesse already met that goal their very first time out, just like their older brother J**s did last season. Jasper had made a good recovery so far from a grass awn infection earlier this year and resumed hunting this past Sunday, finding a covey and singles. 😊 Oklahoma seemed to experiene an unusually severe grass seed season this past year. Even being super cautious by suspending running and training during the ripening and falling periods, brushhogging and mowing- some grass seeds will always be there.
