Plymouth Animal Hospital is open on Friday, July 3rd but we will be closed on Saturday, July 4th. More pets go missing around July 4th than at any other time of the year, so we have a few pet safety tips to keep in mind:
1) If your pet needs any anti-anxiety medication for thunderstorms or fireworks, please call us now to get a prescription filled so you have it on hand when you need it.
2) Check your pet's collar/harness to make sure the fit is correct and any ID tags clearly display your current contact information.
3) If your pet is microchipped, make sure that the microchip contact information is up to date. You can look up your pet's microchip information using the AAHA Microchip Registry (https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-registry-lookup-tool-aaha-find-your-pets-microchip-registry/) and see when the information was last updated. If you have any concerns about your pet's microchip, please feel free to contact us.
4) Consider leaving your pet home if you are heading out to a fireworks display. You can leave some background music on while you are out so your pet doesn't only hear the boom of fireworks.
5) "Dog-Proof" any cooking or grilling - ensure that your pet is not able to get into any extra food or cooking supplies that may be around.
