🍩🐾 Happy National Donut Day! 🐾🍩

Today we're celebrating one of life's sweetest treats! While donuts are a delicious indulgence for humans, remember that sugary treats can be harmful to our furry friends. Many donuts contain ingredients like chocolate, xylitol, raisins, or excessive sugar that can be dangerous for pets.

Instead of sharing your donut, spoil your pet with a healthy, pet-approved treat and plenty of extra love today! ❤️

📸 We'd love to see how you're celebrating! Share a photo of your pet in the comments and tell us: if your pet owned a donut shop, what would their signature donut be called?

Have a sweet and safe National Donut Day from all of us at Plymouth Veterinary Clinic! 🍩🐶🐱

🧩 Blanket: 0️⃣ | Great Dane: 1️⃣

This handsome Great Dane recently decided that his blanket looked a little too tasty. Fortunately, his family noticed something was wrong and brought him in quickly.

Our team was able to safely induce vomiting and recover the blanket pieces before they could cause a dangerous intestinal blockage. But we didn't stop there! We carefully laid out every piece like a giant puzzle to make sure we had recovered the entire blanket.

Why go through all that trouble? Because even a small missing piece can continue through the digestive tract and lead to a life-threatening obstruction requiring surgery.

This is a great reminder that pets—especially curious puppies and giant breeds—can swallow some surprising things. If you think your pet has eaten a foreign object, don't wait to see what happens. Give us a call right away so we can determine the safest next steps.

🐾 We're happy to report this blanket bandit is feeling much better and is back home with his family (and hopefully sticking to dog-approved snacks)!

Here’s Post #3 for your summer pet safety series:

☀️🐾 SUMMER PET SAFETY SERIES — Post 3 of 15 🐾☀️

Did you know sidewalks and asphalt can become HOT enough to burn your pet’s paw pads? 🔥🐾

On sunny days, pavement temperatures can rise much faster than the air temperature. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

🐶 Summer Safety Tip:
• Walk pets early in the morning or later in the evening
• Stick to grass or shaded paths when possible
• Test pavement with the back of your hand for 5 seconds
• Consider protective booties for sensitive paws

Burned paw pads can be painful and may require veterinary care, so a little prevention goes a long way! 💙

Stay tuned for Post #4 in our Summer Pet Safety Series! ☀️

🐾✨ Pet of the Month: Bobby Goblin ✨🐾

Meet Bobby Goblin, Dr. Bertman’s adorable gray tabby Domestic Shorthair with a personality just as special as his story. ❤️ Bobby is also the very first featured Pet of the Month in a new series we are starting to show off some of our amazing patients!

Bobby first came to PVC after suffering a broken leg that unfortunately needed to be amputated. He was also diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a benign neurological condition that affects balance and fine motor control. CH most commonly occurs when a kitten’s mother is infected with feline parvovirus (panleukopenia) during pregnancy.

Despite being a little wobbly and rocking life on three legs, Bobby doesn’t let anything slow him down! He loves chasing toys, appreciates a perfectly clean litter box, and will happily remind everyone when it’s dinner time. 😸

Most of all, Bobby loves people. Whether he’s snuggling up close or making biscuits with his paws, he has a way of stealing hearts everywhere he goes.

Congratulations to Bobby Goblin, our Pet of the Month! 🎉🐱

🎨🐾 We just had to give a sneak peek of the amazing window art our talented Pharmacy Tech, Abbie, has been working on the front doors of the clinic! 💙

She’s still adding the finishing touches, but we couldn’t wait to share her creativity with everyone. Her artwork has already brought such a fun and welcoming touch to the clinic, and we’re so lucky to have such a talented team member here at PVC! 🐶🐱✨

Next time you’re in the clinic, be sure to check out her work in progress on the windows — we can’t wait to see the final result! 👀

🐾 It’s officially kitten season here at PVC! 🐱💕

We’ve seen an influx of kittens coming through our doors lately, and it felt like the perfect time for a reminder about our upcoming Feline Frenzy event!

Did you know? On average, one unspayed female cat can have 12–18 kittens in just ONE year. Spaying and neutering plays a huge role in helping control the pet population and keeping cats healthier and happier. 🩺🐾

📅 Our next Feline Frenzy is Wednesday, June 17th, and spots for both males and females are still available!

Give us a call to reserve your spot today. 🐈💙

Disclaimer: The kittens pictured are not currently at the clinic and are not available for adoption.

☀️🐾 SUMMER PET SAFETY SERIES — Post 1 of 15 🐾☀️

Summer is almost here, and while we all love sunshine and outdoor adventures, the heat can be dangerous for our furry family members. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing tips to help keep your pets safe, healthy, and cool all summer long! 💙

🌡️ Today’s Tip: Never leave your pet in a parked car.

Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise dangerously fast — even on mild days. Heatstroke can happen within minutes and can quickly become life-threatening.

If you’re running errands, it’s safest to leave pets comfortably at home where it’s cool. 🐶🐱

Stay tuned for Post #2 in our Summer Pet Safety Series! ☀️
