We still have plants!

Visit us on Saturday from 11am to 4pm - we still have a great selection of tomatoes, peppers, squashes and cucumbers.

The Rodgers Ranch Heritage Center was founded in ‘91 to restore, preserve & manage the site, along with sharing info on its history and green sustainable living. The 1867 buildings from CA’s wheat growing past are listed with the National Register.

It's time to get the tomatoes in! Peppers can still wait a while, but get them while they're available. We keep getting asked, "Where can I great seedlings?" Biota Gardens is where.

Nothing compares to a Brandywine tomato. The BEST tasting tomato! These are Sudduth Strain Brandywine plants, they do well here in the inland East Bay.

That said, Biota Gardens does still have plants available for sale that haven't been decimated by earwigs. It's almost time to get the summer vegetables in! Our soil temperature is 60 degrees; just waiting for the nighttime temps to rise a bit.

The earwigs are brutal this year. I’ve never seen so many, and they LOVE tender seedlings, especially basils that are already struggling with our cold March/April. This was once a Napolitano Basil waiting for warmer weather.

Earwigs aren’t all bad, they eat aphids, mites, organic matter...but also love tender young growth, and the greenhouses are full of tender green goodness.

Just in case there's any doubt, tomorrow's Expo and Plant Sale is cancelled. We hope to have a summer event after the pandemic passes. We appreciate your support in the past!
