Guys, tomorrow May 17th is Bark in the Park! We’ve been preparing for a couple of months, and we’re so excited that it’s finally here 🤩

Along with fun games, prizes, adoptable dogs, doggy ice cream…we’ll also have a local celebrity, Petunia the “World’s Ugliest Dog”! While we don’t agree with that title, she is a diva champion and we would *never* take a win away from a sassy lady haha

Come visit her and her pal Savvy (and Savvy’s uncontrollable tongue!) at Alton Baker tomorrow! We’ll be there from 7:00am to noon, and these adorable girls will be there starting at 9:30am.

🎂🌟Today is our 18th birthday!!!🌟💐

We can’t believe we’ve been around for nearly two decades now, it’s crazy to think about 🥴 We are the LUCKIEST people in the world to get to hang out with dogs for a living, it is the best job and we are infinitely grateful for everyone who makes this possible.

Getting to 18 years has been a long journey with more than a few challenges and surprises (dogs really love to keep you on your toes haha), but we’ve learned and grown so much, we wouldn’t trade those lessons for anything.

🐾THANK YOU🐾 endlessly for trusting us, supporting us, and for allowing us to continue to be part of the best dog community we could ask for. We love everyone who is part of the Opportunity Barks family, and we plan on being around to hang out with your adorable dogs for many years to come!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Oh, and we’ve added some photos of the dogs who are here to ~celebrate~ with us today! We’ve been handing out birthday dog treats all week, and they’ve all been *very* happy to show their personal support by helping us work through those today…🥰

We’ll have goodies (for pups and people!), handouts about our facility and why we might be exactly what you’ve been looking for, and our featured local celebrity guest - Petunia, the world’s ugliest dog!

Dottie and Newman, 2 three-year-old Aussaliers (Australian Shepherd/Cavalier mix) are looking for their forever home! Their owner has to relocate and is unable to take them, so these two mellow cuddle-bugs are now on the market.

They come here to Opportunity Barks for regular daycare and boarding, so they are used to being around dogs of all sizes, ages and temperaments (and they get along well with everyone, but they prefer dogs who aren’t intense players).

They also love attention and chasing bubbles, and they’re up-to-date on their shots. They love to snuggle with a person on the couch, but they’re also down to go hiking! Dottie loves cheese and Newman loves fetch, so they both have their priorities in order 😂

Daisy is working hard on one of the most underrated skills in training: learning how to settle. 🌼🐾

In between elevated play, excitement, and all the big feelings that come with being a busy pup, Daisy is practicing how to bring herself back down, relax her body, and hang out calmly.

Because training is not just about what a dog can do when we ask for a command.

It is also about helping them learn how to regulate, pause, breathe, and make better choices when life gets exciting.

For Daisy, that means play hard, learn hard, and then practice the very important art of doing absolutely nothing. Which, for the record, is much harder than it looks when you are cute, young, and full of spicy little puppy opinions. 😆

Good girl, Daisy. One calm choice at a time. 💛

The dogs were thrilled to get decked out in their Sunday best to, um, be bribed with bits of beef liver while wearing braided wigs on top of large tires…you know, very relatable Easter activities 😉
