Matsur Agat is a 2024 golden c**t by Matsav Shael and out of Urse des Baisses. This sportive prospect is an agile, beautiful mover at all 3 gaits with a gentle nature and easy-going temperament. He was bred from proven dressage and jumping lines, and he has been lovingly raised with great care, nutrition, and herd life.

Matsur's pedigree brings together a harmonious union of strong conformation and movements to excel in dressage, jumping, or eventing. His sire was linebred on Makka Shael, from Russia, making him a twice great grandson of St. George Grand Prix stallion Gayaz--who passed on the legacy of his outstanding sire Gaigisiz and the exceptional movements of his mother Pampa. Matsur is also grandson of the elite multi-talented and 2005 EU Reserve Champion Daimir, and beautiful dressage mare Kiska. His breeding is bolstered by the presence of World Cup Shael champion Saivan, 1970 Champion of the Breed Kambar, and 1986 Champion of the Breed Kambar in Gen 4.

We will visit with Matsur Agat this weekend at the 2026 Peelbergen European Akhal-Teke Championship! It is an excellent chance for anyone interested to learn and see more of him. International delivery available from Normandy, France, with experienced import support.

Graduation day!! 🌱📅 As part of the weaning process, Aeon is being introduced to the older boys. Behind the camera are his social supports, his younger c**t bestie and adoptive auntie. Integration will happen gradually, but he had no qualms about introducing himself. He continues to be such a cool and self-assured c**t.

In 2025, we collaborated with the International association Chaar Appaloosa to create a trip of a lifetime. 🇰🇬 🇺🇸🇨🇦⛰️ We journeyed to Kyrgyzstan with a small group of 9 amazing people from North America to discover the nearly-extinct yet recovering sacred spotted mountain horse, the Chaar Appaloosa, in its homeland in the heart of the Celestial Mountains.

On the trip, we explored significant horse heritage sites across the country, along the Silk Road and in the rich Fergana Valley--where the Akhal-Teke also originates. We learned firsthand about the enduring nomadic culture of the Kyrgyz people in the mountain region, and how they and their horses still live in harmony with the rhythms of the land. We even had the opportunity to ride Chaar Appaloosa across wild high mountain pastures, with spectacular views of the country, and a chance to help drive the herds down for vet inspections and rearrangement for the next breeding season.

In 2027, we hope to do it again, and this time we would like to invite adventurers from anywhere in the world to join us! Welcoming non-riders to experienced ones. Space will be limited again to preserve the friendship of the experience.

Research on Akhal-Teke Global Genetic Relationships

An extensive study done with the All-Russian Research Institute for Horse Breeding (VNIIK), published 2019, tested 17 microsatellites loci of DNA from 5457 Akhal-Tekes across subpopulations. The findings further prove the breed's ancient origin and indicate not only high global genetic diversity but also encouraging global genetic consistency.

The results "show that the oldest Akhal-Teke horse breed has the wide range of alleles, total 121, that is significantly more than found in Arabian horses" (Ustyantseva et al., 2019). It was also found that "in the locus LEX3 there were determined 9 of the 14 known alleles that indicates a fairly wide parent the maternal foundation of this breed", and furthermore a rare allele called HMS2 N was detected in the Akhal-Tekes which has not been observed in any other breed (Ustyantseva et al., 2019).

The data concludes that globally Akhal-Teke horses have maintained high genetic diversity and distinct genetics from other living breeds, emphasizing their value and status as ancient heritage horses. Even across regions, their genetic structure between each subpopulation remains surprisingly aligned.

Out of the 121 alleles represented in the breed worldwide, "98 are found in all countries", but it is important to note that the "American population of Akhal-Teke horses is characterized by the lowest level of genetic variation" (Ustyantseva et al., 2019).

This fact is one reason we decided to import Akhal-Tekes for our program foundation and aim to help offer more diverse, quality breeding opportunities across the US & Canada. But improving and maintaining diversity is a collaborative effort. We are proud to be members of Akhal-Teke Association of America's mission and community, a nonprofit organization and official liaison of VNIIK (who led this research) that has worked tirelessly since 1998 to preserve and promote the Akhal-Teke in North America while empowering a network of owners, breeders, and admirers.

As the original genetic well for almost every modern breed, diversity of the ancient Akhal-Teke is vital to maintain for its continued development and preservation--and continued use in other breed stocks. This research highlights the need for breeders to work more together and coordinate on better international blood exchange, for the breed to endure and thrive worldwide.

Racehorse stallion, Akhal-Teke Kaplan (Keimir x Kelte), sire to the esteemed Gulistan used also in warmblood refinement and living on as the great grandsire of our wonderful filly Adalga EST. He won 17 out of 26 starts in his racing career, and went on to become a foundation sire within the breed.
