At Texas Mane Rescue we focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming neglected equines.

Our non-profit relies on a small staff, volunteers, and the kindness of those that donate to help our 200+ donkeys, mules, and horses find forever homes. Mission Statement: "We strive to protect vulnerable equine that need a safe place to recover from abuse and neglect, preserve rare breeds nearly lost forever, educate the public about the true value of equine to our history and culture, and promote the need for research to provide the veterinary community with long needed knowledge about longears." TMR Rescue is located on 207 wooded acres in a little town called Todd Mission, TX. We advocate for better lives for all equine, but our emphasis is long ears. If you are interested in visiting our rescue, or simply want to know more about what we do please write us at 9977 County Road 302 Plantersville, TX 77363 Or, contact Johnny at [email protected] to set up a time. BEWARE! We've got some real monsters around here! 🎃🫏

They sneak up on you, demand treats, invade your personal space, and have absolutely NO shame about it. 😂

But don't worry, they're pretty easy to win over with a good scratch and a little attention!

Happy Halloween from all of us at TMR Rescue! 🧡👻

Did you know donkeys have “treat pockets”? 🫏 As they get older, the indentations on their heads get deeper, and those little pockets can even give us a quick clue about their age.

The older the donkey, the bigger the snack storage. 😉

Did you know donkeys have some pretty impressive skills? 🫏❤️ Here are a few fun facts about our long-eared friends:

🫏 Donkeys have excellent memories and can recognize places and other donkeys they haven't seen in years.

👂 Their big ears help them hear sounds from miles away and keep cool in hot weather.

❤️ Donkeys form strong bonds with other animals and can become stressed when separated from their best friends.

🤔 And that famous donkey stubbornness? They're naturally cautious and like to assess a situation before jumping in!

Pretty smart for someone who spends half the day looking for snacks. 😂

Love is a big part of what happens here. ❤️ It’s in the second chances, the quiet moments of trust, the daily care, and the people who keep showing up for these animals.

For some of them, love means learning to feel safe again. For others, it means finally finding the home they were always meant to have.

That’s the heart of TMR Rescue.
