Our first National Association of Canine Scent Work trial is in the books. What a super fun weekend we had! Since I can’t run two dogs at the same level, I opted to run Bodhi who was computer chosen in NW1 and Phoenix in the Element Speciality for Exterior and Containers.
Bodhi crushed his NW1 title (container, exterior, interior and vehicle searches) earning some nice placements and ranked 5th out of 25 dogs overall in NW1.
Phoenix had a stellar performance earning both L1 Element Speciality titles in Exterior and Containers.
I literally couldn’t be more proud of both my dogs. They handled the new environment (St. Lucie Fairgrounds) like champs. Lots of environmental exposure, farm animal smells (we love horse p**p), cars racing, other dogs, very hot weather conditions (thankfully we got to crate inside with the AC), long walks to and back from multiple search areas, staying in a hotel, having a false fire drill in said hotel and they were completely calm and ready to work. All the training from the time they were young until now was put to the test and I really enjoyed being able to relax knowing they could more than handle it.
Huge congratulations to our besties Terri Cannici and Willow on their fantastic weekend and new titles. I’m so proud of both of you! Congratulations to everyone who competed this weekend.
Thank you to our Trial Host: Obedience Training Club of Palm Beach County, Trial Secretary: Judy McPartland, Certifying Official: Natalie McManus and our Judges: Sinead Imbarro, Michael Hadsell who were so wonderful to show to, Volunteer Coordinator Lauren Walsh, and all the volunteers who dedicated their time this weekend so we could run our dogs.
Much gratitude to Lauren Walsh of Search Tall for coaching us since June and really preparing us to be our best. Your knowledge, expertise and experience has been invaluable in our learning.
