Guess what time it is???? TIME TO PLANT! Thanks to Ritchey's Tractor Works for sending out Cody, who tilled our soil into fluff! We have been using “no till” for a few years, but some sections got away from us during hurricane recovery and got very compacted. This was the easiest way to get us back on track. I’ll be breaking out the wheel plow and seeds tomorrow!

Going bananas over this bunch! Our banana plants took a beating over the past two hurricane seasons, with major crop losses. Fortunately, the younger plants were protected by the older ones that fell, so we have a bumper crop coming! This first batch will wind up in my tummy and banana bread for the farm stand. Stay tuned for availability. 🍌 😁

If these fig trees could tell stories, they would tell of my grandmother lovingly tending them, family gatherings to harvest, and the sweet aroma of preserves bubbling on the stove. We have transplanted several to our southern homestead, but none produce fruit as sweet as these. Worth the drive to harvest!

We have been absent from social media for a while, but it's because we slow down (sorta) in the summer months, tackling projects that we don't have time to do during the main growing season. One of those projects is doing canning for our own family's benefit. This week is peach-a-palooza, thanks to incredibly sweet peaches from The Peach Truck! (Our trees are too young to produce the volume we eat.) We are busy canning sliced peaches, jam, jelly, and syrup, and I won't even confess how many slices of sourdough with peanut butter and peaches I have consumed this week. Soooo, how are you spending your summer months?
