Zeke encountered horses today, and surprisingly he was only slightly reactive! No lunging, only that piercing husky whine, so a big improvement!

Zeke has been with us for a couple years now and we have come so far! No more resource guarding, he knows his manners, and recall is awesome! Unfortunately our biggest problem is still territorial marking. This is a learned behavior and it is so strong in him. So while I dont have a way to " fix it" , I do have options for managing the problem... he is only allowed to free roam the house with his belly band on... ( like a washable diaper for Male dogs) on walks I reinforce the no marking. Not every solution looks the same, We found what works for us !

training isn't just for the dogs...we have been teaching Chase the Hamster to come when his name is called, go through tunnels and walk around on his hind legs!

Zeke has come a long way over 9 months! When he first came to our home, he wanted to bite my hand over a snow ball, growled at me if i moved his food dish, and thought nipping at hands was a good time lol After a lot of training and consistency, my 4 year old and Zeke are the best of friends, no more nipping, no more resource gaurding!

well, Zekes new thing is to bark at us while we walk around the yard. Any time we are not right near him he barks...not a fun prelude to our summer. So, EVERY time he does, i walk back to him and put him in the house.. The goal is for him to associate having to go into the house if he barks at us...and when he doesn't bark, he gets to stay outside and hang out with us...Hoping he is a quick learner, because most days are spent hanging out in the yard...
