For some reason, this Chinese mantis decided to molt in a very strange spot, and as a result, it fell while its exoskeleton was still very soft. Their raptorial arms are now twisted in a very inconvenient way. It cannot grab its prey properly and bring it to its mouth to eat, so for the time being, I will have to hand-feed them and hopefully it will self-correct during the next molt.

The snake pictured is a copperhead

There is fungus amongus.

After they freshly molt, their exoskeleton is still soft. Before it hardens, it is this beautiful turquoise color.

I finally got to see my first copperhead today! Such a beautiful animal! Surprisingly calm and relaxed. Great eye, Joe Franklin !
