πŸ«πŸŽƒπŸ‘»Trick or Treat πŸ‘»πŸŽƒπŸ«

It's that time of year to keep candy bowls and baskets out of reach of your pets!

Halloween candy can contain chocolate, xylitol, raisins, and even some tree nuts that can be highly toxic to your furry friends.

Keep your candy stash and pets safe 🍭✨

LOCAL NEWS UPDATE: In the past 10 days, two foxes have tested positive for rabies in the town of Enfield, NH. These two animals have unfortunately exposed multiple humans to the disease.
Reports of rabies in the Upper Valley and surrounding area are on the rise. Please note, rabies vaccination is required for all cats and dogs and can be life saving in case of exposure. Pets without a current vaccine are required to be strictly quarantined if they have exposure to a rabid animal.
If you notice a wild animal acting unusually, contact NH Fish and Game or Vermont Fish & Wildlife for advice. Please do not approach such animals, and keep pets inside or leashed until the situation is resolved.

πŸ”₯πŸ• Hot diggity dog, the temperatures are on the rise again! πŸ•πŸ”₯

And as they rise we want to remind you to keep an eye on your pup's paws.🐾 Concrete, asphalt, and even stone absorb and hold on to heat which can lead to severe burns on the pads.

Unsure if the ground is to hot for your pup? Follow the 7 Second Rule- if you can't keep your hand on the ground for more then 7 seconds then it is too hot to trot. πŸ‘ŸπŸŒ‘οΈ

Hello friends! We took a quick cat nap away from our social media - but we are back and ready to fill you in! ✨

Over the last month some of you might have had the chance to meet Maria, a vet student who spent four weeks here at Riverbend. Maria came all the way from Mexico to complete an externship with us! πŸ‡²πŸ‡½

You might have seen another new face around the clinic, everyone meet Caleigh! She is a recent graduate from UNH and joined the Riverbend staff a few weeks ago. Next time you stop by, say hi to Caleigh! ✌🏻✨

Oh, also say hi to Bread Bowl! 😸 Bread Bowl was found outside of Panera Bread πŸ₯– and brought to the clinic. He found his furrrever home with one of our technicians, Emily! Welcome to the family Bread Bowl! 🐾

FYI: Upcoming Rabies vaccine bait drops for wildlife in Vermont!

If you see a low-flying helicopter or airplane across Vermont over the next few days, don't worry β€” it's just the USDA and the Vermont Department of Health dropping oral rabies vaccine bait blister packs for raccoons and skunks! 🦝🦨

These packs are designed to help reduce the likelihood of wildlife getting the disease and eventually eliminate rabies in the United States. If you find a bait pack, leave it be β€” they don't harm people or pets. Learn more about the process here: https://ow.ly/LrYC50VKJ9r (pdf)

Image description: Blue nitrile gloved hands hold small, rectangular olive-green bait packs. The front shows an oval shape where the medicine is. The other shows the back of a pack which has the ingredients and instructions.

πŸ’– Is this love at first sight? We DOOdle think so! πŸ’–

Bella came in for her spay surgery this morning but needed a quick pep talk first. πŸ˜‰

Here at Riverbend Veterinary Clinic we most often recommend spaying and neutering your pet between 6 and 18 months old.

You know what TICKS Dr. Pepper off- πŸ’₯TICK DISEASE! πŸ’₯

Yes, yes we know preventives are expensive, but it's cheaper than treating Scruffy for lyme, anaplasmosis, or heart worm disease!

We see an up-TICK in vector-borne diseases as the weather reaches over 30℉, and we want to make sure that all our patients stay safe and keep waggin'. 🐩😎

πŸ“žβœ¨So give us a ring to discuss preventative options for your pet! βœ¨πŸ“ž
