Yes, yes we know preventives are expensive, but it's cheaper than treating Scruffy for lyme, anaplasmosis, or heart worm disease!

🌟That's right, it's Hildr and she is glowing 🌟

She came in for her pregnancy x-ray and is full of puppies! 🐶Taking x-rays shortly before a due date allows the veterinarian to make sure everything looks good inside and out, and provide the owner with an estimated number of puppies expected. 💖

Other signs include:
- Excessive drooling

Did you know that cases of H5N1 virus, also known as Bird Flu or Avian Influenza, are on the rise in the United States? Bird flu is seen not only within avian species, but also in humans and pets. 🦆🙅‍♂️

The current recommendations to keep you and your furry friend safe are:

- Avoid feeding raw and freeze dried diets, especially to cats (this includes milk and eggs) 🍗 🥚🥛

- Avoid walking your dog in places with waterfowl

-If you keep birds at your home, have biosecurity measures in place 🐓 (avoid interactions with wildlife, have a pair boots designated for the coop, and change your clothes after hangin' with those chickens)

Hi Friends!

With the upcoming cold-snap , we hope you and your pets can stay as warm and cozy as Dr. Pepper 😸

4 helpful tips to keep your pets warm and safe 🤔

1) Avoid long walks. Feet, legs, tails, and ears can get cold fast ❄️

2) Our short haired and smaller friends should wear a jacket

3) If walking on salted sidewalks or roads, use booties or wash the paws off when returning home 🛁

4) Keep anti-freeze products out of reach and only use pet safe ice melts. Consuming either product can be extremely toxic

For this week’s Fun Fact Friday, we would like to introduce you to Riverbend’s hardest working employee… Dr. Pepper! 😸

While Dr. Pepper awaits her acceptance to vet school, she spends her time roaming the clinic and assisting where needed. Her favorite activities include stealing her co-workers lunch, testing the prescription diets we carry, and searching for the best sunbeam.

Hi Friends! It's time for Fun Fact Friday✨

Did you know that over 50% pets are overweight? We all love giving Buddy treats whenever he is a good boy, but too much weight gain can lead to several health issues. Obesity can lead to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and more.

Remember to measure out how much food Buddy is getting and track those treats throughout the day!

Check out the next two slides to help determine where your pet falls on the body condition scale.

Hi Friends, it’s time for fun fact Friday! 🧐

Pancreatitis (a frequent cause of vomiting and diarrhea) is more commonly seen during the holidays.

While it's tempting to give Fido an extra marrow bone or a spoonful of gravy over kibble, too much fat in your pet's diet can cause gastrointestinal distress. Variety is not always the spice of life, so stick with your vet recommended diet! ✨
