We are a holistic horse center offering boarding, clinics, and lessons featuring faculty educated in Carolyn Resnick's methods, Klaus Hempfling, Natural Horsemanship, Natural Classical Dressage, clicker training, and Yoga for horse and rider. Amenities include oversized outdoor arena, new indoor arena, grass turnout, various boarding options (equifoam-floored oversized stalls, run-in boarding, et

c.), owner on premises, individualized care. Holistic practitioners available for holistic horse care, including barefoot trimming. The farm is located in the Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts, at the end of a dead end road, with the original 1783 Federal Cape farmhouse. The property has been a farm of various kinds since it was built, and a horse farm for the last fifty years. There are endless activities either on or near the farm: walks on the property's colonial coaching roads in summer, and cross country skiiing or snowshoeing in the winter. Downhill skiing is very close by for more winter fun, and there is Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Kripalu, museums and endless exploration available in the nearby Berkshires. There are also many wonderful state parks with trails just a short trailer ride away. We welcome well-behaved dogs and children. Our horse accomodations are very comfortable, with daily turnout and lots of trails both on the property and in the nearby State forests.

We have stalls available. Please share and spread the word. Can you say "indoor arena in winter"?

Would anyone be interested if I put together a tack/supplies sale/swap? Everyone would bring their own table, we could have it in the indoor arena, public invited of course. --Rae

Our first clinic with Sharon Wilsie was a huge success. We're already planning the next one. Watch this space for more info!

Don't forget to register for the workshop with Sharon Wilsie on May 16 here at Back Acres Farm and B&B Morning session: Learning equine body language. Afternoon session: intro to clicker training. Only a few spots left for active participants (bring your horse or play with one of ours), plenty of spots are still available for auditing. For more info email me direct at [email protected] or PM here (but I might not see it unless we're friended). --Rachel

2013 CLINIC SERIES: BETTINA DRUMMOND CLINIC
APRIL 13TH, 2013
SECOND ACT FARM, 124 BOTSFORD HILL RD., ROXBURY, CT

This will be a rare opportunity for participants to consult with an expert concerned solely on balancing correct form with the pursuit of light contact. Focus will be on warm up techniques (which may include in-hand), rider position, correct contact, and specific exercises tailored to each horse and rider pair. This clinic will be of great value to auditors since the methods and exercises Bettina uses can be used on their own horses to create balance and light contact in their riding.

"Bettina Drummond is highly regarded in both the United States and Europe. She teaches the French Classical method of dressage, along with some of the principles of Baucher when appropriate for the horse’s development. She is a practicing Baucheriste trainer, following the tradition of the Portuguese Master Nuno Oliveira, who achieved his phenomenal results by grafting the principles of Baucher onto a classical foundation.

Ms. Drummond spent 17 years in training with Master Oliveira, beginning at age seven. She earned the coveted spurs awarded to instructors at 17, and was recognized as a master trainer at 21. She was also influenced and coached by some of Europe’s finest trainers, including General Durand, Ecuyer en Chef and Commandant of the French National Equestrian School in Samur, and Lieutenant Colonel Paolo Angioni of the Italian Cavalry."

The clinic will begin with a lecture given by Bettina at 9am, followed by 3 rides, lunch, and 3 afternoon rides. Depending on the number of registrants the number of afternoon rides may be increased. Each riding session will be an hour.

Please bring your own chairs.

Directions to the clinic may be found online at ctdressageassoc.org
