We had one of our favorite guests return to the ranch this week.

Nils, who lives in the country of Mexico, comes to Maine for the summer with his morher and stops by Double J Ranch to connect with all the animals, but he is especially fond of our donkeys, Clementine and Biscuit.

Research demonstrates that the human-animal bond can confer many health benefits for children and adults on the autism spectrum, and for their families too! Whether it is a trained service dog or a farm animal, there is scientific evidence supporting the positive influence of human-animal interaction (HAI) on people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Thank you Nils for reminding us why we do what we do here at Double J Ranch.

Today we had a group of young teenage girls come from the Youth LED Justice program to have a day of therapy with the animals.

We talked and shared and more important it was a place for them to forget about the challenges that they are facing right now and not to be judged or bullied or ridiculed. As one of them said "I'm just so happy right now.".....that comment right there makes what we do here at Double J Ranch all worth it.
