Mandarin(for now) was just rescued from He needed a new bed among other things, he did not hesitate to show us that he knows how to put his bed to use! To say that he is super sweet is an understatement, he just wants to cuddle with everyone he meets! Remember that we give 10% off of first purchase before or after rescuing a pet. We are looking forward to seeing how Mandarin grows in to his new family!

Today is our final installment of Black History Month. I’m just going to let this picture speak for itself. 28 days of history, I tried to put up some people that maybe not everyone has heard of, in the process I learned a lot myself. This country was built on the backs of the slaves, there is no denying it, we are still struggling with the consequences of our forefathers actions. January 1st 1863, July 2nd 1963 are significant dates but Jim Crow is still alive and well unfortunately. We all have a lot of work to do, these days it seems like we are going backwards. It hurts to say this but I don’t believe the adage that “This is not who we are as a country” I think this is exactly who we are as a country, but I don’t think it has to be this way, I think that we can change, I think that we can make America great. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”

It’s impossible to calculate the impact that Maya Angelou has had on African American culture and America as a whole. Maya Angelou (/ˈændʒəloʊ/ ⓘ AN-jə-loh;[1][2] born Marguerite Annie Johnson; April 4, 1928 – May 28, 2014) was an American memoirist, essayist, poet, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees.[3] Angelou’s series of seven autobiographies focus on her childhood and early adult experiences. The first, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969), tells of her life up to the age of 17 and brought her international recognition and acclaim.
