The ArmOR Hand Animal Handling Gloves by Dr. Laura Catena

The ArmOR Hand Animal Handling Gloves by Dr. Laura Catena The ArmOR Hand Gloves, veterinarian developed, are machine washable and offer superior dexterity. My joints became infected.

Dr. Laura Catena is the Founder and President of The ArmOR Hand Glove. She graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and is a small animal veterinarian. Dr. Catena developed The ArmOR Hand Animal Handling Gloves after an injury she endured while working emergency medicine. ArmOR Hand is a compassionate glove, designed to allow for proper and safe restraint technique, without the

use of force. The glove is used to safely handle animals, reduce injuries to humans, improve animal welfare, and advance the cause of wildlife and pets. ArmOR Hand is a reusable, vegan glove, ensuring a low impact on the environment. The glove decreases disease transmission, supporting the One Health initiative as well as increases pet owner compliance for at-home medical care. Dr. Catena achieved a Fear Free Preferred Product certification for ArmOR Hand. She is a recipient of the Pet Age 2021 Women of Influence Award. Dr. Catena worked with The Paw Project to pass a ban on declaw surgery in the City of Pittsburgh. She is a frequent guest on podcasts and is the co-host of the radio show, Animals Unplugged. This is The ArmOR Hand Story:
I love being a veterinarian, and I am well-aware of the seriousness of animal-related injuries. While working as an emergency medicine vet, I was bitten by a patient. I had severe pain, extensive surgery, and months of physical therapy in order to re-gain proper function of my hand. Because of my injury, I developed gloves that will help to protect against animal-related injuries. The purpose of The ArmOR Hand Gloves is to allow safe and proper animal restraint technique. Proper technique can be achieved because of the superior flexibility and dexterity of the gloves. The ArmOR Hand Protector Gloves offer protection to the wearer, while facilitating restraint of the animal by allowing sufficient flexibility and dexterity.

Busy day for wildlife rescues. Many calls came in today including an injured egret at a local park. A coyote with mange. A Coopers hawk inside a Home Depot. A hummingbird that had a swollen tongue. And at the end of the day, a report of a turkey that was trapped for 4 days inside a warehouse complex that covers 8 square miles in Rocklin. This massive Carvana warehouse property is very large and the turkey somehow got inside and was hanging out on the elevated pipework of the fire suppression system. These pipes were 30 feet high in the warehouse making it very challenging for a rescue. Also there was expensive equipment and vehicles inside the warehouse that made it a difficult rescue situation. Aimee Staats and myself worked together with one of the Carvana supervisors and we finally were able to net the turkey. Since this was an after hours call, we decided to treat the turkey in the field by administering fluids for dehydration. We conducted a health exam and determined the best results to reduce more stress on the turkey was to release her back with her flock that was outside the Carvana compound. Everything went well and the turkey was able to walk off on her own a rejoin her flock. Great teamwork work.

Close encounter. This morning, I received a call regarding an injured Great Horned owlet. Once on scene, the young owl was laying in the grass. I approached the owlet and started to bend over. Something caught my eye in the grass and it was looking at me. Just then I realized I almost stepped on a very large Northern Pacific rattlesnake. I was able to safely catch the owlet and take him to the nearest wildlife rehabilitation facility . The rattlesnake I moved deeper into the brush away from people.

"Another escapee exotic lizard. This one was seen crossing a busy road in Sacramento. This White-Throated Monitor lizard is native to South Africa and has a mild venom delivery system in its bite."

I love seeing ArmOR Hand being used in so many different capacities! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™

"My friend Penny rescues lost and stray dogs. Recently these 3 wolf hybrids escaped. Animal Control caught them temporarily with a netgun and a catch pole but one of the dogs ran off with the catch pole still attached and also with the netgun net still attached..took over a week for my friend to trap all 3 dogs and take to capture equipment off them."

"Late last night, I received a report of a loose "Gila monster". While this would be exceedingly rare, the RP described it as a very large lizard. The "monster" turned out to be a 3 foot long Argentine Tegu. These are common in the pet trade and are escape artists."

We just rescued this very little baby Western Screech Owl that fell from a high Italian cypress tree. No way to re-nest so I took it to a state licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility.
