Walking up to an aggressive dog is a lot like stepping into round one of a heavyweight fight. š„š
Most dogs donāt come out throwing a full knockout shot immediately.
They test first.
A hard stare.
A lip curl.
A quick lunge.
A snap in the air.
Those are the ājab punches.ā Theyāre gathering information.
āHowās this human gonna react?ā
āAre they nervous?ā
āBacking away?ā
āComing in too hard?ā
āDo I need to escalate?ā
Meanwhile Iām reading every movement like subtitles on a foreign film. Tail tension. Weight shifts. Eye contact. Breathing. Which direction they retreat. Which direction they load pressure from.
Because every reaction tells a story.
A dog that bites from fear moves different than a dog that bites with confidence. One leaks hesitation. One commits forward. One throws warning shots. One skips the warning label entirely. ā ļøš¾
So when people watch a video and think:
āBro just walked up to an aggressive dogā¦ā
Nah.
Thereās a whole chess match happening in silence before the first touch ever happens.
