Nakoma has finally started her groundwork journey, starting session 4 next session. Taking it slow and making sure we understand pressure from all my aids to set her up for success and get her confident. We started lunging on the line rather than roundpenning, and shes beginning to lock on to me already. Haven’t gotten any pictures but she’s been learning to tie great already and has been pleasant to work with.

Nakoma finally got out to stretch her legs last night.

Took much longer than I was planning but things have been chaotic. But she let me walk right in halter her up and take her out around the corner of the stalls (which she hasn’t been through since she came and we had to herd her in). Easy to catch.

Sometimes the simplest things take the most time. Building a strong foundation of trust in the beginning will set her up for success not only in her training journey but the years to come.

Now to tackle those feet 😬

Very horrible quality clip incoming!

Playing with some one handed work on scooter. I asked for a right hand spin, I could’ve used more seat cue as he thought I wanted a back up at first. However, once I shifted my weight, he understood. I’m very proud that he began to pivot on the high end and use himself rather than windmilling. I am very thankful for this horse and how much he has grown with me and I am excited to see what this summer holds.

3 rides and we are figuring it all out. These are moments in time but it only took her 15 minutes to soften up. Picked up the trot without any taking off and walked off completely relaxed. Once she connects the line driving with under saddle work she will shine and she’s already on her way.

Scooter on the drive lines from the other week, finally got around to editing it. We worked on multiple different things, he’s my guinea pig for new movements on the lines.

W/T/C, the canter of which we find extremely exciting. He is still understanding the trot to canter transition on the lines, that is doesn’t have to be an event but he loves to go! We played with haunches in, and rollbacks. I’m slowly playing with more specific maneuvers on the ground and it’s coming along nicely.

I just love how he carries himself especially at the trot. It’s very rewarding to watch him become that horse I saw in him two years ago. Last night we worked on carrying a flag undersaddle and he was wonderful. New saddle will be coming in the next few weeks!
