This sweet, beautiful black lab tested bilaterally deaf today. She has a loving family and the best support. She will no doubt live a wonderful life!

I post these results because I am advocating for health testing as well as spreading awareness of BAER testing. It is the only proven evaluation to determine hearing loss/deafness.

The claps or noise makers will not give you the answer you need. There are many reasons these tests do not confirm a true hearing loss.

I share these stories because i want to provide education to the breeding community.

This sweet Double Merle Catahoula tested bilaterally deaf. While she is happy and beautiful she is an example of why breeding double Merle is considered to be unethical. They can result in other health issues beyond deafness. She will need dedicated owners to pay special attention to training and awareness for the sake of safety and communication. Her parents are dedicated to giving her the best life!

My hope is that these stories will encourage more responsible and ethical breeding practices.

I had a wonderful time at the Steel Valley Cluster Health Clinic in Canfield, OH this month.

I had the pleasure of testing some of the top breeders!

Yakutian Laikas, Border Colllie, Boston Terrier, Silken Windhound, Hairless Terrier and a St. Bernard .
