Double the love, double the joy! Laverne and Shirley are a sweet pair of 5-year-old terrier/collie mix sisters who have been inseparable since day one. These girls share an incredible bond and must be adopted together; they’re truly each other’s world.

They love going for walks, exploring the yard, and then cuddling upside by side when it’s time to relax. Their companionship with each other makes them easygoing and well-adjusted, and they’ll bring twice the happiness into a forever home.

Both of these sweet girls are already spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested and are up to date on vaccinations!

Peanut Butter was just at the Ron's Supermarket Kid's Festival. There he played with lots of kids and did great with other dogs onsite. He's already neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and is up to date on his vaccinations so he's ready to hop in the car with you to head on home!

He's a lovable and sweet Pit Bull who is looking for his forever home. This handsome boy has a stunning white coat with BRINDLE SPOTS!!

He has a playful and friendly personality that will melt your heart as this boy LOVES to cuddle and give kisses. He even has been learning how to sit on command.

Despite his large size, Diesel is a big softie!

He loves nothing more than cuddling up with people to give them lots of love and affection. He's a loyal and devoted companion who just wants to be loved and taken care of. He does get nervous around other animals so he’s looking for a home with no other pets so he can relax and love on his new family.

📣 COMMUNITY UPDATE: Hope on the Horizon for the SEK Humane Society!

Two months ago, the SEK Humane Society announced the heartbreaking possibility of closing our doors by the end of 2025. Since that time, our team, supporters, and community have refused to give up. Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors, sponsors, and attendees at our recent fundraising events we are proud to announce that our operational timeline has now been extended!

🐾 As of today, we are able to continue operating through March of 2026!

This milestone is only possible because of our community, our volunteers, and everyone who has shared our story, donated, adopted, or attended our events. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our mission and helping us stay open for the hundreds of animals who depend on us.

However, our work is far from over. The SEK Humane Society is continuing to pursue long-term stabilization efforts, including:

-Ongoing discussions with Crawford County and the City of Pittsburg for potential financial support.

-Continued fundraising and grant applications to secure sustainable funding for future years.

-Strengthening sponsorship partnerships with local businesses and individuals such as sponsoring a kennel for a year, helping to provide food, medical care, and shelter for the animals who call it home.

💔 A Difficult Reminder:

Due to continued dumping of animals at our gates and our facility already being at capacity, intakes remain closed. Please understand that dumping is not the answer. The Kansas Department of Agriculture strictly regulates our capacity and exceeding that number could result in our facility being shut down and the animals already in our care facing mass euthanasia.

If the shelter or animal control cannot currently assist, we urge residents to avoid abandoning animals. Coyotes and other predators are heavily active near our grounds, and with winter approaching, dumped animals face almost certain danger.

🐶🐱 Coming This November:

To help open space and give more pets the chance at forever homes, we’ll be hosting a HUGE Adoption Special with 50% off all adoptions for the entire month of November!

Every adoption saves two lives: the pet who finds a home, and the next one who can take their place in our care. If adoption numbers rise significantly, we will gladly reevaluate reopening public intakes for strays and owner surrenders.

At just 8 months old, Burger King is a pittie mix pup with a heart as big as his puppy paws. He may not come with a drive-thru, but he’s always ready to serve up a combo meal of cuddles, kisses, and wagging tails!

Burger King is a happy-go-lucky guy who thinks life is one big playground. Whether it’s chasing toys, learning new tricks, or flopping over for belly rubs, this little king lives every moment with pure puppy joy.

He’s already neutered, heartworm tested, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccinations so this little fellow is ready to go home! Adoption Fee: $65.00
