Chatham Sheriff's Animal Resources The CCSO Animal Resource Center (ARC) is a great place to meet & adopt your next furry family member! The ARC works hard to reunite owners with lost pets.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Animal Resource Center provides many resources to the public and animals of Chatham County. The ARC Shelter provides necessary medical care, vaccinations, enrichment, and alteration for shelter animals and has many wonderful animals available for adoption! The ARC also provides resources for affordable spay/neuter, works with fosters and rescues to help animals get adopted. We help animals find their furever home and help you find your new best friend.

300 Vaccines Administered! 😻😻

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Animal Resource Center hosted a free drive-thru rabies clinic at Chatham Charter School in Siler City, making it quick and easy for pet owners to keep their cats and dogs up to date on vaccines.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., cars lined up as our team, joined by our partners from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Bonnie Ammerman of Hill Creek Veterinary Hospital, administered 170 rabies vaccines and more than 300 total vaccines!

The event was sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, whose support helps us continue providing valuable services to our community.

“We’re very grateful for our continued partnership with NC State, Dr. Bonnie Ammerman, and the BISSELL Pet Foundation,” said Capt. Stephen Renn, who oversees ARC operations.

Sheep Auction Scheduled 🐏🐏

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Animal Resource Center (ARC) will conduct a public auction of two stray sheep on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the ARC, at 725 Renaissance Drive, Pittsboro.

These two sheep were the last of a flock found roaming near Chicken Bridge Road earlier this summer. Despite public notice and efforts to locate an owner, no one has come forward to claim them.

In accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 68-20, unclaimed livestock must be sold at public auction after a required holding period.

Each animal has received a wellness exam and all appropriate vaccinations during its care at the ARC. Bidders must be prepared to safely and humanely transport any animals they purchase.

We appreciate the community’s continued interest and support and we look forward to finding good homes for these two!

Chatham Sheriff’s Animal Resources is hosting a FREE rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs -- just drive up, and we’ll take care of the rest!
