Heads up folks: There will be a BIG event at the Park at Briar Chapel this weekend (Saturday & Sunday) from 9am to 4pm. The event is called Cycle Cross and there will be bicyclists riding through out the entire park at high speeds. There will be a lot of traffic. There’s been a rash of complaints about certain dog OWNERS not playing nicely with others.

The county is asking that we report all incidents.

Please call Jay Ramey with the County Parks Department at (919) 545-8554.

Today at the dog park, a rambunctious puppy (about 5 months old, 40 pounds) kept jumping on me and at me — very high, with all fours off the ground. He was being playful, but not something I wanted. The first time, the dog's owner said nothing. The second time, nothing. The third time, the owner finally said "down." The dog then followed me to another section of the park and jumped on me two more times. We were far from the dog's owner but I asked loudly for the owner to get their dog, at which point I was called an uptight do*****ag. The owner leashed the dog and left in a huff.

Nice.

This is an outlier experience since I'm there most days, but let's all look out for each other. Occasionally, I have to pull my dog away from another dog or dog owner. It happens. But I promise not to call you names. Everyone has their limits. Mine was five jumps.
