Loess Hills Equestrian, LLC

Loess Hills Equestrian, LLC Hi there! I am Marlee Christensen, Owner or Loess Hills Equestrian. LHE is located in the beautiful Loess Hills of Pisgah, Iowa on my husband's family land.

When you come out for a visit, you will likely see the Christensen's family cattle roaming the countryside, along with my amazing family members working the fields surrounding the facility. Although my facility is brand new (built in April of 2021), I have been providing private lessons for about three years. I have two horses that are used in my lesson program and they are absolute sweethearts. E

ach lesson will be 45 minutes in length and will consist of learning how to properly tack up your horse, how to ride, safety measures, horse behavior, and horse health/wellness. Horse training is also offered at LHE. I would also like to add some credit to certain people since my dreams would not have come true without them: Throughout the years, I have been trained by Professional Barrel Racer Jesse Hodges (Hodges Horsemanship), Professional Hunter/Jumper Caitlin Bazis (Olive Branch Equestrian), and have taken clinics with Morgan Snyder (Snyder Performance Horses). Two of the horses on my property (Savvy and Scotch) were bred by the WONDERFUL, Deb Campbell. Each of these amazing professional are located around the Omaha area and come highly recommended! Please feel free to call/message me with any questions or if you would like to set up a visit!

Im excited to announce, starting January 2026 all lesson students will have a documented comprehensive checklist of riding skills and general knowledge, which will be updated every lesson. This document will be made available to the students and parents in order to mark progress and better keep track of skills.

I’m sure your student is absolutely tired of me asking “what did we work on last week?” “Have I taught you this yet?” “What horses have you ridden?”
We’re putting that problem to bed 😊

I am so excited to implement this, and hope I can be the best lesson instructor your child/you deserve(s)!

**there are a few remaining lessons spots if anyone would like themselves or their child added to the program***

As we maintain our facility lockdown, we continue have a full heard of healthy horses. LHE will plan to reopen our doors to outside horses starting January 2026; however, each horse will be required to be in no contact with outside/traveling horses for 14 days prior to arrival at LHE. Horses coming in for training will also be required to have a health certificate within 5 days of its arrival.

These requirements may be subject to change as we continue to monitor the outbreak.

**if you are seeking training for your equine partner, please reach out at your convenience. Training spots are currently filled for the next three months.**

Thank you!!!

I know this is based purely off of my Google Reviews and nothing else, but that only means I have an amazing client base that leaves me wonderful Google reviews. YOU ALL are something I am beyond thankful for this year!🥰

it’s me. I don’t take care of my saddles🫣

Last two photos are the finished product. I’d say I learned my lesson, but let’s be honest, I probably didn’t

Due to the current outbreak, LHE will not be taking outside horses and no horse will be allowed off property until further notice. This facility has no confirmed cases and we hope to keep it that way. Keep your horses safe!

As we continue to monitor the current outbreak of the neurologic form of equine herpesvirus infection (equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy, EHM), let's take this opportunity to discuss once more the importance of biosecurity measures to stop disease spread. We recommend the following biosecurity precautions for horse owners, particularly if their horses have recently traveled to horse shows or were exposed to horses that have traveled:

1) Monitor horses for clinical signs (including fever, discharge from the nostrils, toe-dragging or a lack of balance) and take the temperature twice daily. Temperature greater than 101.5 F is considered a fever.
2) Immediately isolate any horse(s) showing clinical signs. Equine herpesvirus is an aerosolized virus and is spread through shared airspace, direct contact, and contaminated caretakers or equipment. A good isolation area is a separate barn or shelter that does not share airspace with healthy horses.
3) Implement movement restrictions until the situation is evaluated.
4) Contact your veterinarian to evaluate your horse and to propose a comprehensive biosecurity protocol.
5) Increase biosecurity measures that include extensive cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and equipment that come in contact with affected horses: wash or sanitize your hands between interacting with horses; take time while filling water buckets and feed tubs, do not cross contaminate; minimize the use of shared equipment and tack.
6) Make sure your horse is up to date on vaccinations.
7) Establish communication with all parties involved (owners, boarders, trainers, etc.).

More resources and information regarding biosecurity are available on the Equine Disease Communication Center's website at https://equinediseasecc.org/biosecurity

Proof I’ve gone too soft on my newer lesson kids. I use to make poor cate climb a rickety step stool to toss her saddle! Well…you’re an outstanding rider now, so it worked 😆

Before I had a full schedule of lesson students, before I had a training business, before I had an outdoor arena, a billion horses, a drill team, a high school class…I had these two🥹 look how young they were! It’s the company you keep that make it worth it 🥹🥹 Kodee Johnsen Kymber Johnsen
