Feeling so grateful to have been able to go to the Kentucky Defender 3 Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park. While I’m still trying to figure out how to fit all of the things I bought into my bags to get home, to experience an event like this was amazing. We were surrounded by the best in the world in both eventing and show jumping, and even got to walk the cross country course with Jennie Brannigan and Boyd Martin. forestiersellierusa was there and it was so fun to cheer on Caroline Pamucku who is sponsored by them, and now Phillip Dutton who recently joined with Forestier. One of the best moments was seeing Liz Halliday cheer Boyd and Bali on and present an award to the winner of the 4*S in her honor. This was an experience I will never forget!

Huge thank you to Priscilla from thecovertfarmllc for a fantastic clinic on Sunday! We loved the chance to shake off the winter cobwebs 🄶, get some fresh eyes on our rides, and go into warmer weather with new goals to work on.

Always a great day of learning, laughs, and happy horses. We’re already looking forward to the next one! 🐓✨

What was supposed to be a winter of dialing in and building on our progression through the summer, turned out to be a winter of rest, tests X-rays and groundwork for Polaris. Right before Thanksgiving we were struggling with slight soundness issues that suddenly got worse. We tested for many injuries/issues/illnesses, and everything came back negative or inconclusive. Dr. Jen at Blauner, Buchholz and Associates, and I discussed next steps and decided to do X-rays of Polaris’ back, which showed she has significant kissing spine. As serious as this diagnosis is, we are so fortunate to have such extensive and knowledgeable resources available to Red Rox.

Since the diagnosis, Polaris and I have been working hard on building her back muscles and topline to support her back. We did injections, she gets weekly Magnawave treatments with ND Equine Wellness, and we started with groundwork to focus on body awareness and engagement and progressed to using equicoreconcepts to strengthen her back and topline muscles. I am so glad to be partnered with Forestier Sellier USA; the gullet on all of their saddles is wider than most to ensure the panels sit properly on the back muscles and clear the spine completely. With kissing spine, it is crucial that this happens with the saddle to avoid any discomfort.

All of the time, effort and knowledge from everyone has kept Polaris comfortable and helped her soundness significantly so that we are finally able to start back under saddle. Our goal was to move up a level when we competed next, but I’m just happy that with slow, careful rehab and maintenance we are sound again and have the potential to get back to where we were and move forward!

The Priscilla Godsoe Clinic is now happening on Sunday, March 15, 2026, because the original date had us all questioning our life choices (and the horses were 30 seconds from putting a formal complaint into HR).

We’re manifesting sunshine, spring vibes, and temperatures that don’t feel like a personal attack. 🌷🐓✨

If you were already signed up, don’t worry—we’ve still got you. If you missed round one, congrats! The cold weather chaos has granted you a second chance!

The past few weeks of insanely cold weather has tested most horse and farm owners strength, patience and sanity, but this weekend pushed the limits for both the horses and humans. Red Rox is so fortunate to have amazing clients who will come and brave the cold to help hand walk, do barn work and bring snacks and coffee. The horses all got a chance to leave their stalls and stretch their legs, and barn work was a breeze with so many people helping with stalls, hay and water- it made what would have been a long day so much more bearable! Thank you to everyone for leaving your warm beds and houses to come help, we appreciate you more than you know!!!

With the feels like temperatures in the single digits and negatives all last week, we got creative with keeping horses and people thinking (and warm!). The indoor had different pole configurations that horses could be hand walked over that encouraged proper foot placement, balance and use of their core and topline. Lessons consisted of learning how to do ground work with horses and use body language to steer and adjust pace. Emma has always been the perfect model for learning about parts of the horse, so we brushed up on our body parts knowledge! I personally loved using our ā€œeasy keeperā€ blue and new white horses (barrels) to find our center and position so that when we are back in the saddle this week we can see how the changes we made on the barrels help our communication with our horses! We have never had temperatures this cold and snowy for this long in the 9.5 years Red Rox has been open, and I cannot be more grateful for all of the help and support everyone has given this week. The checking in, coming to help with stalls, turn out, hand walking, feeding… I am so humbled by what a truly great barn family we have at Red Rox. Winter is hard as it is, and this past week has been physically, mentally and emotionally draining for any farm owner, but it was so much more bearable thanks to all of the teamwork and positivity!

It’s been a crazy week with the snow and cold, but the night before the storm we had a pottery barn party night at artinthebarn_cynthiascott! We learned how to work with clay on the pottery wheel and make our own clay pieces with stencils, stamps and even horse hair!
