Here’s a bit of information that I think needs to be shouted out to the entire South US. If you are using a heartworm product that has the active ingredient of milbemycin (Interceptor, Milbeguard, Trifexis, or Sentinel) or ivermectin (Heartguard, Iverhart, Tri-Heart) ,these products are NOT effective against the resistant strains of heartworms found in the South. Not accusing all vets, but vets should do better in their research. I am disgusted over continuing to hear of the use of these products recommended by vets in Louisiana and the dog coming down with heartworms. Use a product with moxidectin at least that is so far advanced from the others.I can provide plenty of studies. The milbemycin and ivermectin studies that show 100% effectiveness , are done with dogs without the resistance strain which are rampant here. I challenge anyone to find my one credible study with the resistant strain that show good results. I have several studies at least that back up these results. I could not find one with resistant heartworms that showed anything different.

She loved and was loved. 4/8/2014-1/21/2026. May all your days Over the Rainbow bridge be filled with chasing bumpers and birds because that is what you loved to do.
