Almost done with the next big project! Our colony style rabbit run. After some advice from you all, we did put wire on the ground inside the bay and buried it under a thin layer of dirt. Wire also runs about a foot straight underground all the way around. We've been fencing the top today and plan to put the buns in this weekend!

Dalton planted some grass in the off chance it grew - and some has!

We buried two 27 gallon totes as nesting boxes for our two ladies - one of which should be having kits in the next couple weeks! 🤞

We're excited and hopeful for this setup! We'll keep you posted!

So excited to have transport that services the area occasionally! We will look to use this for our chick boxes wherever possible in the future instead of USPS for reliability.

I never posted this big project Dalton completed early this year just after Elaine was born. He fenced in allllll of the bird runs, the new growout and rabbit colony space, future KuneKune territory, our gardens, and some large forage space for the animals and for Willow to roam.

To top it all off, he built this beautiful gate that we can open and drive a vehicle through if needed. I added the spikes to deter the chickens from flying over, but a couple do it anyway 🫠 The hope was to protect better from the uncaring neighbor who won't keep his dog up (and who single-handedly erased 3 years of work on 5 breeds) as well as from predators. We've been having a recent fox-y visitor as well that has successfully snagged a couple free-ranging birds. We prefer to live in harmony and protect rather than hurt the animals trying to survive in their natural habitat.

Would you add a hot wire on top or around the bottom?
