Hey everyone, Duke here! 🐶💬
I wanted to take a moment to share something important (and maybe a little icky 😅) to help other pups and their humans!
It’s called acute moist dermatitis — also known as a hot spot. These red, irritated patches can pop up really fast and are super uncomfortable. My human noticed mine suddenly, and because it was so sore and sensitive, Dr. Godfrey had to sedate me just a little to shave and clean the area safely.
🚨Warning: The pictures might be a little hard to look at—but don’t worry, I’m one tough pup! 💪
My owner acted quickly and loves me tons, and I’m now on the right meds and feeling so much better already. 💊🤗So remember, if your furry friend starts licking, scratching, or has a weird red spot—don’t wait! These things can show up almost overnight.
Thank you to Dr. Godfrey for helping me feel better, to technician Cami for pampering me while I waited, and a huge thank you to my amazing owner for acting fast and getting me the best care possible. I’m one lucky pup. 🐾❤️

While flea and tick medications are the most effective preventative strategies that you can use during tick and flea season, you might be tempted to try home remedies and alternative methods. The problem is that these flea and tick removal methods don't work. And on top of that, some can be harmful or create other health issues. https://www.petmd.com/dog/parasites/5-flea-and-tick-treatments-dont-work

It’s Friday – and Merlin is smiling about it! 🤪
Don’t be afraid – this is our friendly boarder, Merlin! He may flash his teeth when he’s happy, but don’t worry—that’s just his unique way of smiling.🤗
He’s all love and personality, and we adore having him around!

Dr. Godfrey gave Olaf a thorough check-up, paying extra attention to his mouth and dental health. Based on the exam, he recommended an oral health procedure to keep his smile in tip-top shape! 🦷
Afterwards, Olaf headed to our treatment area for a nail trim. Once he was all groomed and polished, he came trotting back out, tail wagging, happily searching for his owners — and lit up when he found them! 💞🐶
Taking care of your pet’s dental health is an important part of their overall wellness. Ask us if your pet is due for an oral health check!🥰

Happy AAHA-Accredited Hospital Day! 🥳
Our team is proud to be part of an AAHA-accredited hospital—and we show it off by proudly wearing our AAHA badges on the right side of our scrub tops! 🐾 🩺
What is AAHA?
The American Animal Hospital Association sets the highest standards in veterinary care—and only about 15% of hospitals earn this accreditation.
To our staff, AAHA means:
✅Exceptional care
✅High standards
✅Always putting pets first
We’re Pinellas Animal Hospital, and we’re proud to go above and beyond every day. Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members!💙💜

Heat stroke in pets is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when a pet's body temperature rises to dangerous levels. This can happen when your pet is exposed to high temperatures, especially in environments with poor ventilation or no access to water. NEVER LEAVE YOUR PET IN A PARKED CAR, even if the air conditioning is on. Avoid walking or exercising pets during the hottest parts of the day; it's best to walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening. Ensure your pet has access to plenty of fresh, cool water at all times, as well as shaded areas and cool places during the hot summer. It's best to keep pets indoors in air-conditioned rooms during extreme heat.
Some signs of heat stroke in pets include excessive panting or difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, drooling, lethargy, stumbling, vomiting, diarrhea, bright red or pale gums, seizures, and unconsciousness. If your pet shows any of these symptoms, immediately move them to a cool space. Use cool water to wet your pet, place wet towels on them, and use a fan to help cool them. Seek veterinary care promptly, even if your pet seems to be recovering, as heat stroke can cause internal damage that isn't immediately visible.
By taking these preventive measures and knowing how to respond to signs of heat stroke, you can help keep your pets safe during the hot summer months.

Big day for our little ladies!💞
Both Mia and Stella had dentals, and brave big sister Mia also had a mass removed on her neck.
As soon as Stella woke up, still groggy and unsure, she crawled straight to Mia—like she knew her big sis would keep her safe. 🫂
These two are so bonded, it melts our hearts. We couldn’t stop taking pictures of them snuggled up together, even post-surgery.
Through thick and thin, they’ve got each other.🫶🥰

Ever wonder why your dog loves to roll in stinky stuff? It might gross us out, but to them, it's like wearing their favorite "cologne"! Rolling in strong scents may be their way of masking their own smell or just tapping into some wild instincts. Whatever the reason, it's a dog thing—and we love them for it. What is the stinkiest thing your dog has ever rolled in? If there is a funny story to go along with it please share.

Diego was flat on his back at the vet, mid-urine sample collection...
But instead of focusing on the very awkward situation,
he locked eyes with Darci. 😍
No meows. No squirming.
Just one long, dramatic gaze—
as if to say, "Remember me like this. Brave. Vulnerable. Still handsome."
Even at his most undignified, Diego knows how to keep it romantic.😜

ADOPTION ALERT 🚨😍(Please read💜)
Meet Lacey! She is a 1 year old energetic, loving, sweet, smart puppy. Due to the health issues of her owners she is looking for a new home.
She does well in a crate, she's 99% potty trained and has had basic obedience training with PETS (Brandi Burket). She is working on not enthusiastically jumping on people when she greets them. Other commands she knows and we're working on are “place”, “sit”, “stay”, “drop it”, “leave-it”, “wait” and loose leash training.
She has a loving disposition, enjoys being close to you and loves to snuggle on the couch. One of her favorite activities is receiving and giving kisses and hugs. Burrowing under the bed covers is her preferred place to sleep. When someone is crying or upset she shows concern and affection.
Cognitive/enrichment tough toys are best for her because it’s too easy for her to destroy the soft toys. She LOVES to play and can be easily entertained.
Lacey is greatly loved in her current home and they want to make sure she goes to an amazing home where she will be loved and will continue strengthening the commands she has been taught.
Brandi has offered a free in-home training session to her adopter (if in her territory) or a free virtual session (if out of her territory).
To hear more about this amazing pup please call or text Brittany at 802-734-2250.❤️💜❤️💜❤️🐾🐶
