We now have our garlic scapes available. We began picking today. Available by the bunch or box.
Interesting footnote: last year a went to a farmers market in Passaic County off Route 23. Theyhad a backyard gardener masquerading as a farmer selling the most anemic scapes I had ever seen. They looked like five blades of grass. Not enough to feed a mouse. Cost was $5.00. I saw some poor sod actually buy them. Unbelievable, don’t the managers vet these people?

Disked the field for the third time today. The best part is as I disk, the red winged blackbirds, cowbirds and killdeers follow me and eat all the cutworms and grubs. They help rid the field of these harmful pests.
