🔥 URGENT — OUR STAFF NEED SAFE DRINKING WATER 🔥

Our animals are always safe, hydrated, and protected…
but our staff are working in dangerous heat without access to safe drinking water.

Every day, our team is outside in the elements — scrubbing kennels, walking dogs, cleaning, lifting, sweating, and caring for the unwanted, the neglected, and the abused. They give everything they have to keep this shelter running.

But here’s the truth:

🚫 We cannot drink the water at the shelter.
🚫 Our well water is not safe for human consumption.
🚫 Even with our special filtration system (designed to protect the animals from Coccidia and Giardia), it is not foolproof — especially after heavy rain when surrounding farm runoff enters the well.

💧 The animals are safe.
💧 Their water IS filtered for them.
💧 But humans cannot safely drink it.

And our staff — the people out there in the heat caring for animals no one else would — deserve better than going all day without reliable, safe hydration.

We are urgently asking for help obtaining a safe watering system for staff, such as:

• Bottom‑loading water dispensers
• Top‑loading water dispensers
• Hot/Cold bottled water stations
• Commercial hydration units

These systems would allow our team to safely rehydrate throughout the day without risking illness.

This very elderly female Rat Terrier was found today on Hurst Road in Schuylkill Haven.
She had no collar, no microchip, and appears to be hard of seeing or possibly blind.

She is safe, warm, and being cared for here at Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, but we need help finding her family.

Our brave girl Ginger, who survived distemper when the odds were stacked against her, she was at the emergency vet last night until late this morning. 💔🐾
She was experiencing severe, frightening spasms, and our team is doing everything we can — but she needs her entire village behind her. She started experiencing seizures due to the distemper infection that she had had as a puppy and healed from.

This girl has fought through battles most dogs never come back from. She learned to trust again. She learned to love again. She learned that people could be safe. And now she’s fighting for her life again.
